It was a chilly Sunday at SE, but definitely a productive day. Got the new 16" upper zeroed and was soon banging steel at 300-500 yards with ball ammo and a PA ACSS 1-6 scope. The 14.5" got its Aimpoint zeroed and was soon slinging Wolf in one of the carbine pits.
Considering some of the high-$$ gear that many SE shooters have, I felt like Donnie in "The Big Lebowski", totally out of my element.. |

My SE membership is apparently GTG and I've been invited to sign up at the next membership sign-up.
Did NOT expect it to happen this quickly. My Mk12 Mod 1 doesn't have glass, and I just dropped $7k on other crap. |

I'll be there on Sunday if that's when you will be out there. |

The rimfire match is on Saturday, so I may come out Sunday instead. The folks have company in town from France, and we are supposed to meet them sometime this weekend, just don't remember the date. |
|
Glad to have you aboard.
Now maybe you'll shoot some of those fancy rifles. |

Signed up last Sat.
WOW! This maybe the best use of my OT money ever! |

We had the place to ourselves yesterday.
It was grand. Planning on going early Saturday morning and messing around at the 500 yard line. |

View Quote Lessons learned from yesterday: The $99 Bump-Fire systems stock is awesome and works well, as long as you're not a righty trying to use a lefty stock.... Fin. I had the same problem a few years ago with Undefined's 5.45 AR, and solved it by making his EoTech die. The HK VP9 is a sweet-shooting, stupidly accurate handgun, that makes banging steel targets at 75 yards an easy task. The hi-viz front dot works perfectly with the 10-8 blacked out rear sight. It IS possible to sunburn one side of your body worse than the other. My left ear, side of my face, and arm got roasty-toasty yesterday. And finally, that Finslayer83's legs are so white, they can be seen from space. |

You guys suck.
I finish school (again!) in August... I think a membership might be part of the graduation gift I get myself! |

I'm REALLY contemplating a Creedmoor as my next build. It'll be a minute, but I keep lurking in this thread and stuff on K&M in the meantime.

Trying to decide how many $$$ I want to pour into a build. Been spending alot of time in the Precision Rifles forum in here. |

Today was a beautiful day to shoot at Strategic Edge, sunny but cool in the shade. I took the Glock 26(and sold it later that afternoon), 16" AR, and my 54 year old Mossberg 340KC .22 rifle. Finslayer83 was there for about an hour, but I stayed almost two hours longer at the rimfire range.
|
|
At $1.25 a pop I like to limit the 6.5CM shooting to 60 round intervals.
But owned the small swingers at 500 so life is grand. |
|
The little girl at the rimfire range was a shooting machine, knocking down some of the little steel targets as I was drawing a bead on them. Of course, she had a scope, but the little steel targets fell to her bullets with scary regularity. My old Mossberg bolt-action .22 needs a scope, I think.

The mount is the trick on old bolt action .22s, especially in my case. Hell, one of those cheap 4x21 pellet gun scopes might work on the dovetail receiver.

I'm going Sunday morning if anyone wants to join.
Going to mostly shoot in the steel pistol bay - but if anyone else wants to go I can bring other assorted noise makers. |

Renewed my membership for another year just under the wire. The deadline is this Thursday to renew, after which time they'll likely sell your spot to a prospective member.

Does SE allow members to shoot at night? I didn't see anything on their site saying so. K&M specifically says sun up to sun down. Is there anyone within reasonable distance from Clarksville that does?
|
|
They're having a night shoot this weekend, leaving the range open until 11:00 or so. They have dimly lit one of the pistol pits to simulate the sort-of-dark conditions one might encounter on the streets after dark, too. It's main purpose is to get you shooting with your light, and/or night sights, at targets that are much more difficult to identify. Muzzle flash becomes an issue, depending on which carry ammo you've settled on.
Though I haven't used this range yet, it makes HUGE sense to try it out with your duty/carry pistol. |
