I had to pickup a friend at 5:30 this morning in West Knoxville and it was beautiful driving on the freshly fallen snow.  It was the good kind of snow that 4WD can easily navigate.  I felt very little ice or slickness on the road.  The hardest part was seeing the roadway and knowing where the shoulder was.  As the old saying goes, "just drive between the mailboxes."

4" here in Maryville. I've been riding the 4-wheeler around my neighborhood. It's a great way to learn how to drift.

Also good for sledding when you don't have any good hills within walking distance.

Has WATE even been close to the weather this week?  Matt has been saying dusting and light like he believed it!

Careful where ya do that.  I "knew a guy who knew a guy" who was doing it in a newly-constructed parking lot (dumb anyways) and got his guts ripped out by rebar.

I've got to keep an eye on the weather a lot due to my job, and I can say they and NOAA have had a really really bad year predicting weather.

Here's a photo I took of a familiar barn in Townsend yesterday.

Once you got past Foothills Pkwy, the roads were crystal clear.  We tried to go up into the park, namely Cades Cove, but they shut it down.  We still walked up the road about a mile and I ran into a hiker who had walked 2/3 of the way up to the cove.  He said the roads were just as clear up there as down here and he was pretty pissed nobody was allowed into the park.  It would've been a perfect day for leaf-lookers.

Here's the stream from the bridge at the entrance to the park.

we have about 2-3" here in Lincoln County.  Still falling pretty hard though.

Alabama is getting the worst of it. Cullman has 6"+ already.

We have about 4" here about 15  miles north of Chattanooga.
Still coming down pretty hard.
Went out and rode the four wheeler some but didn't have any goggles. I had so much snow in my eyes I couldn't see where I was going.

Edited to ad a couple pics

Left out of Chattanooga at 5 and it was snowing like a bitch all the way up 75 to about Sweetwater. Tapered off just a bit and quit at Loudon about 6 or a little after.

Just discovered that place through Flickr recently and am planning a trip this summer.  I bet that over look would look amazing right now.

Wow.  Beautiful bit of land you have there.

Thanks! I enjoy living out from town and I like our place but it is a lot of work to take care of. We are down to one old horse and when he is gone I want to down size so I have more free time. But it would be tough to move back to town.

My wife took this one of our front yard...

I took these two of the Honey Badger right before I left for work...

This is at the main ambulance station in Chattanooga...

And this was at the station in East Ridge...

All the snow's gone now, we still had some as of yesterday even though it was gone down in the valley below.

Five minutes before I took this pic, 11 deer came up the hill between the Directv antennae and the brushy area behind it.

Five minutes after I took this pic, I took two shots at a coyote that was trailing the deer down at the bottom of the hill just to the left of the brush pile at the bottom.  I doubt I got it, but it did run off into the cedar line so I at least got it off the trail of the deer.
