They leveled part of the old shopping center and are building new. |

The sign they have up says summer. I drove past a week ago and it looked like the interior walls were up and done, and the parking lot is done, they just needed everything that went up inside.

Drove by last night and they had starting putting up display cases in different areas. The gun racks were up as well. Looks like it should be open soon.

I drove by last week while I was at HD. There were a bunch of cars in the lot and people wearing Academy clothing. Looks like they're on track from cursory glance.

REI just has more quality gear other than Columbia and North Face with the occasional bit of Marmot or Kelty. And I know we already have Outdoors and Kinnucans, but again, better and bigger selection.
How about we give up Dick's and get REI? I think that's fair, especially as we already have an Academy.

Now open. Looks like any other Academy. I didn't see any amazing deals but I didn't go through the whole store. On the plus side....apparently they had a $10 coupon in the paper (which I didn't know about before hand). I bought 2 sleeves of CCI .22 and the total was $16.37. The cute blonde at the checkout hooked me up with the $10 discount.....$5.44 for the CCI
 It made me miss the old days of cheap .22

They have lots of 22 left. All are boxes of 50. You can only get 2 boxes at a time.
Lots of bulk boxes of .223/5.56 and pistol, but I thought it was all high priced. Otherwise, if you've seen one Academy, you've see this one. |

I wish they would buy and sell used guns. That's the only reason I ever go by Gander Mountain in Jackson. Never bought anything from them yet, but they've had some interesting used guns in there before.

I've been going a lot. I've been nearly out of 22 for a while and I've been able to pick up a lot of subs for decent prices since they opened. Just glad to have one convenient.
