The JM Davis Gun Museum is freaking amazing. Well worth a trip.
EPIC BEER.
Epic beer got its craft as Utah "was" a 3.2% ABV for beer or malt beverages brewed in Utah only, state for the longest time. Higher alcohol content tend to hide tastes by diminishing the palate. So to craft beer in Utah worthy of consideration at competitions outside of Utah, Epic REALLY had to focus their skills in brewing up tasty craft beer with amazing bouquets.
Then Utah finally allowed brewers to brew "strong beer" in excess of 4.0% ABV (Thus becoming LIQUOR for 'state controlled & taxed purposes') and then Epic exploded onto the arena with a craft brewing skillset that really blasted the competition. Hence where they are now. Winning awards and brewing internationally recognized beers.
Sadly, they have moved 'some' operations over to Colorado and there is talk that they may shutter the Utah side of the business due to an antagonistic tax structure and anti-alcohol enforcement of draconian & out-dated laws.
Utah's alcohol laws are exceptionally asinine and ignorant. But, at least we don't have 'BLUE LAWS' making all alcohol sales verboten on Sunday...
One of the tricks to get COLD STRONG BEER is to go to Epics Restaurant THE ANNEX (1048 East 2100 South, Salt Lake City, UT) and get the Strong Beer "to go"...
Its ALWAYS kept cold too! Unlike through the State Alcohol store where NO ALCOHOL is ALLOWED to be sold CHILLED.... Stupid....
