I fondled hundreds of guns at the NRA meetings and finally decided on my next purchase.
Rock Island Armory 1911A1 Ultra Tac 45. I can't believe how smooth it is. The slide feels like it's on bearings. I can't wait to wring it out.

I like mine a lot. Bought last year and have since made a few "changes" - just can't leave anything stock

Grabbed a partial box of 45s today and fired a few rounds in the backyard at 10ish yards. Very accurate and smooth as silk. I think I'll keep it.

How was the muzzle flip with extra rail?

Very controllable. Recoil seemed lighter than the Colt 1911 I had a few years ago. I felt it had considerably less muzzle flip.
The trigger feels like maybe 4-5 lbs and breaks cleanly. I do need to adjust the over travel screw a little. The rear sight probably needs to come down a click or two, it shot a little high. |
