3 war veteran: WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

One helluva gunsmith, famous for his work in M1 Garands and M14/M1A's.

World is getting smaller......

That's the man. Spent an bit of time with him over the years........he's got some stories!

He was part of the design board of the M-21 and the M-40.

Very sad to hear this, he must have been 90 or more.

Several years ago my wife and I spent a valentines day out at his shop/home.

While we went and shot my rifle his wife and mine talked gardening.

After we returned to the shop he gave me a great compliment.

He told my wife that I shot so well he would be glad to have me with him in combat.

It was a fantastic day with that man.

May he rest well.

Memorial Day weekend is a fitting time to lose such a legend.

The man was a miracle worker on the M1/M14 platform and a hell of a shooter up until his last day on this earth.

Bedded my 700 and set up several  M1A'sfor my dad and for friends.
The man could shoot and loved helping other shooters. He was a gruff tuff guy that commanded respect.
I'm proud to say I've spent a day or 2 at his shop.

Saddened to hear this...

Always liked watching him work his magic on the rifles I would bring him. Hell, even had a beer with him once. He had lots of stories to tell...

RIP Ol' Hook

No way!

I hoped to take a Garand to him, just for the instruction.

Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost.

Hook shared everything he knew  about the M1 and M14 to anyone that would take the time to listen and watch. If you were a HP shooter, you were his best friend.  He lived to past his knowledge on. He was  a sawed off little shit, but one of the biggest man I have ever met. I knew him for 15 years and wished it had been 50 years.  I would be a better man if that had happen.

I'm an M14 Armorer and I swear I learned more from watching him that I ever learned in Armorer's School.

I feel very blessed to have known the man and to have broken bread with him. I lack to words to convey the respect I feel for him and for the sadness of his passing.

The Memorial service for Hook has been announced for June 14 at 2 pm.

I am hoping to attend the service and will be driving from St. Simon's Island to Breman. Anyone along the way or close to along the way that wants to catch a ride is welcome.

I will be returning to Southeast Ga after the service.
