Quick question - I checked out the application and I only see a division for 223 with magnified optic (308 is listed under heavy irons, non-magnified).

Will there be a division added for 308 with magnified optic?

Nope, only heavy option is heavy irons.

Fantastic match!  If anyone is on the fence about this, just do it.  You will not regret, Creekside always puts on a great match with great people.

Question for some of the people that have done this before - anything particular I should bring (no less than 3 mags, etc.,)??

Also - just for planning - I signed up for the 223 w/optic division. Is a 3-9x too much for something like this? I checked out a few videos of last year's shoot and it seems like most people were using non-magnified optics.

I'd bring 4 mags for an AR.
You will probably need a dump pouch (a pouch to put mags in rather than throwing them on the ground).
I would recommend gloves and elbow and knee pads, just in case bay 3 is interesting.
The shooting is mostly pretty close, BUT, there are also usually at least one 200 yard stage at some pretty tiny steel.  The scope will make that part easy, and everything else more difficult.
I only ever shot irons.

Be prepared to get dirty.
Be VERY sure you know how to use your safety.

Pay attention to what is and isn't a target during the briefings.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate the tips!

I've got a cheap red dot (bushnell trs) that it sounds like would be the better option but I already mailed my form with the Tac Optic division.

Sounds like I need to do some figuring out.

Thanks again!

What division are you shooting?

Luke/Joe, will there be steel? I'm thinking about bringing my 74 but don't want to shoot 7n6 if it'll tear up the targets.

Most likely on the long range stage.  Let me double check.

If 3x is more of a PITA than anything, I can swap over to the red dot if that's what's suggested.

But, if it's mostly personal preference, then I'd love to stick with the setup I've got on it if possible. (ss 3-9)

Looking forward to trying this sort of shooting out.
