Pro Russian separatists (supported by Moscow) have been at war with Ukraine for months. Ukraine was part of the former Soviet Union. It's a military plane so it's fair game. As long as they don't regularly target civilian airlines there's nothing the world community can do.

Well, except some of the shoot downs have been by Russians from the Russian side of the border and inside the Ukraine and some of the shoot downs have been by Russian aircraft that have been in Ukrainian airspace. But never-mind the details since they are just slavs after all

Ukraine seems to be holding their own, and retaking ground. It isn't our fight. I'm not saying we shouldn't help the Ukraine with ELINT, etc, but I don't think we should be taking a more active role.

Except this is the same strategy Russia used to invade Crimea, and there's plenty of evidence that the "separatists" are actually Russian troops. It's a land grab, but the "international community" isn't going to do anything about it, which Putin knows. We'll see if sanctions do any good. Right. Yeah. OK, so much for the Ukraine... |
