I don't need to be a cardiovascular specialist or anything, but after taking CPR certification and attending the local gun store's class on treating GSW's, I feel I would like to know more about treating wounds.

Say I encounter a car wreck, or am in some Walmart when some nut goes jihad, how do I properly help someone bleeding out? I have basic gauze and bandages, gloves, etc but really want more training.

Anyone know a hospital that offers training, or perhaps an EMT class would be best...

I don't know about any local training.

This has some good info on first aide self help for stopping bleeding.

I can't get the link to work, I'm copying and pasting it from my Amazon app.

Checkout Forsyth Techinal Community College...good programs.  The NC Community Colleges train most of the EMT folks in NC.

Guilford Tech has a paramedic course there. I guess it's still there. I was there 36 years ago. It was a two

year AS course. Most places now do a certification course of around 9 months IIRC. It is in Jamestown.

Where did you take the class on treating GSWs?  I would be interested in taking that.

You might also check with your local Fire Dept.. They probably do some training in-house to keep First Responders up to date on protocol and such. Maybe they would allow public participation. Just a thought. Never hurts to ask.

Red Cross is an often over-looked option.
