What's the advantage over standard Glock mags?
Or is it....."just because we can, Damnit!"
They are half the price of OE glock mags. I don't even own a glock and I'll be buying a couple
I think they're a happy median between the Korean mags and OE Glock mags. Of course I bought the Korean mags when they were ~$10 each and I don't think I've ever paid more than ~$20 for a new OE G17 mag so the Magpul mags aren't quite "half price" to me.
The Korean mags I have (both Khan and KCI) required a bit of "tuning" in the form of removing extra molding flash and a bit of "break-in" (leave them fully loaded for a while) to attain full capacity. I relegate them strictly to being range mags. But I've bought used OE G17 mags for ~$15 each and have had nothing but 100% reliability from them.
One thing about the Magpul mags I've noticed are the springs are long and strong. I'd love to see
Glock Magpul produce a +2 basepad like Glock's. I've had 100% reliability using Glock standard G17 springs with their +2 basepad so I would certainly expect the same if Magpul brought a +2 basepad to market.
One downside to the Magpul mags is their inability to accept standard Glock-pattern aftermarket extended basepads such as OE Glock, Arredondo, etc.
