I guess I'm cynical, but I'm waiting for either an affair to come to light or the state's books are borked.

That was my first thought also.  Pennsylvania State Treasurer, Bud Dwyer, shot himself during a news conference.  He was convicted of taking a bribe, but still proclaimed his innocence.  I always figured he was framed.

I heard some pretty nasty and unflattering radio spots referencing him. Thinking to myself it was kind of early for any opposition to be running those kind of ads. Just my humble opinion and speculation, though. I'm thinking he might have had some medical problems(cancer?). He didn't look well to me in the pics I've seen of the guy. Condolences to his Family & Friends, may God give them comfort & Peace

I saw him on the Allman Report about two weeks ago.  Seemed like a stand up guy, with everyone's best interests in mind.  Post Disgrace is reporting that he had called for a news conference at his house this afternoon.  People interviewed in the Capital said he was a workaholic and it was odd that he was not in Jeff City today.

Funny, he commits "Suicide" a few days after he releases a scathing report on the St. Joseph School District involving as much as 40 Million dollars in irregularities and possible criminal actions.

Yep, suicide.

My first thought as well, something don't smell right.

A guy  just don't kill himself out of the blue like that.

My first guess was child porn but your assertion would be a close second.

ETA: by no means do I have ANY firsthand knowledge nor am I disparaging his character.  Simply a (WAG) wild guess.

Yep, apparently he shot himself just minutes after he had called reporters to come to his house so he could tell them about how the head of the Missouri Republican Committee had made anti-Semitic comments about him.  That is what KMIZ in Columbia reported anyway.

^ I wonder if Tony Messenger still beats his wife and kids?

WTF????

Making wild accusations about the republican party being bigots after the person who [he says] made off the record comments.  Can he and the paper he works for be any more biased?  If Schweich had wanted Messenger to report what he did [which Messenger states in 'article'] then it would not have been shared 'off the record' but rather he would have given it to him 'on the record'.

If Mr Messenger was Mr Schweich's friend, it was not reflected in that piece of 'journalistic' crap.

A friend would have honored his friend's memory and set political posturing aside rather exploit the relationship like the slander whore his actions indicate him to be.

Some how I doubt anyone would kill themselves because another person called them names, at least not as an adult.

Also, I'm sure the news is muck-racking on the charges of anti-antisemitism.  Like it or not, the GOP has a long record of being the only party that supports Israel.
