It's been years since I lived in Alabama. IIRC Alabama did not have a debt or could not constitutionally run a debt.
Is that true?

I've found conflicting things on the internet. I only ask because some liberal was talking about state debts etc. at work.

Any info appreciated.

They have to have a balanced budget but they can take on debt and do quite frequently.
