"BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Birmingham police have confirmed to us that one person is dead, and five injured in a shooting in the Gate City neighborhood.  Police got the call at 8:15 at the intersection of Joppa Court and Georgia Road. Police say the shooting started as a community event came to a close.  Earlier in the day, residents attended the “Stop the Violence Gate City Peace Day” at Lewis Park, which is about two blocks away from the shooting scene."
