I recently moved to Dothan and I'm looking for a place to shoot. I don't really want to shell out hundreds of dollars a year to spend a few hours a month with my rifle and pistols.  Does anybody know of any ranges where I can at least sight the thing in?

Public ranges on most state game lands in Alabama, check the state website.  Rucker has a 300yd privately owned weapon range.

I was just in Gander Mountain that the guy at the gun counter (like I'd go anywhere else in there) said the same thing.  He gave me the number.

Check out Tri-State Gun Club.

They have monthly matches in a variety of disciplines that you can attend without being a member.  Come shoot an IDPA match. That'll at least give you an opportunity to see if you want to spend the money to join the range.

Dothan Gun Club just opened in August. It has a 400 yard range and 8 large pistol bays and a 3d archery range. It is a membership only range, but has 3 gun , Tactical Action Pistol and USPSA monthly matches and you don't have to be a member to shoot them. http://www.dothangunclub.com
