UPDATE
Spoke with the owner today when I headed to the range. Sent him an email with all of the calibers listed so far still awaiting a reply via email. While at the range he said we would be in the LE/.mil range that is seperate from the normal range. FULL AUTO IS ALLOWED. He said everything up to(not sure if including) .50BMG is allowed. Ammo restrictions EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY - All AP, Armor Piercing, Steel Cored, Penetrating Pinned, or Ferrous Metal bullets are BANNED from the ENTIRE Property. If the projectile (bullet) sticks to a magnet - DO NOT BRING IT ONTO THE PROPERTY. If I catch you with these... I throw you out for a month, 2nd offense your out for 6 months. If I catch you three times... you are permanently off the property (Banned for LIFE). Some FOOL ruined a $100 plate with AP ammo. If I catch you damaging my plates with this described ammo... I legally can & will impound your guns, ammo, & vehicle until you pay off the damages. View Quote There is a shoot already planned the 17th, so I requested the 10th. more updates soon. Updates Enough interest has been made to set a date. MAY 17, 2014 Tentatively set at ProTeq Firearms (depends on some requirements which comes next) http://www.proteqrange.net/ Range Distances requested, Type of Projectiles used, Targets your providing, Calibers, etc., I have never been to an organised shoot of more than 5 people so you guys need to help me with some answers. So far 9mm/.45/.40/5.56/x54r/x39/.308/22lr/12ga and more calibers may be added.( not what is allowed, just what has been suggested or obvious.) |

Im not but 10 mins from there. |

I believe it was $20 dollars the last time I looked at the price but I could be wrong.
Don's would have the 7 yard pistol target, 25, 50, 100, 200, and 300 yard berm. The 300 yard he likes watching people shoot at first so he knows you can shoot it reliably. Only has two sitting benches to shoot distance and one place to stand to shoot the pistol target and 50 yard target. Also has the clay pigeon area to shoot at. I don't think it would be big enough if we had 30-40 people in my opinion. |
My brother in law lives in NW Indiana, I've met a couple of the IN HTF guys at one of the Indy 1500 gun shows, so depending on location and if I can get time off work, this thread is relevant to my interests.
If the event is at Pro-Teq, I will make every attempt to attend. Don is a super guy.

Im still in contact with don, but with little information, were limited. |

Lets hear some suggestions!
There already is interest in Pro teq, which is about 60 miles south west of Indy. |
Anybody know any centrally located ranges that are big enough to host one? I only know of the local range Proteq for myself.
I would like to, but being in Corydon, I will probably be to far away.
I am about 20 minutes from PT. I would definitely be down. Even if somewhere else.
I'd be interested depending on date and location. I've got several MG's I'd bring along.
Well I have called every place suggested here and there were no replies except ProTeq.
In order to reserve the range we need a number of who is coming also a date set so he can relay cost and availability. With the NRA convention coming within 45 minutes of here setting a date in April is questionable. Tell me more about what you want to do and shoot…

Count me in for sure and May is good to go for me. Pick a date: Weekends are 2,3 &4, then 9,10, &11, and 16, 17, &18, then Memorial Day weekend of 23, 24, 25 &26
22lr, 9mm, 40, 45, 223/5.56, 7.62 x 39, 7.62 x 54r, 12 ga (skeet), and possibly my 458 would be the rounds I would be using. Ranges out to 100 yards.
Date is on my calendar. My calibers are all included as above. I don't need any especially long range distances. Steel targets are nice but I have no problem punching holes in paper.
I'll more than likely be out there this Saturday as well.

If I don't have a job by then, I will be really GTG for a May event. Otherwise, count me in.

Go to the Ky hometown forum and click on the tacked links "sept 2011 knob creek" and "2012 kentuckiana hometown" I have made 3 of the last 4. Great time had by all. I understand that it started off with a small group and has now turned into a enormous family event. Arf family that is.
I'm interested, just depends on the day and whether or not I can get the day off.
Thanks for the update. The 17th works and I just sent you (op) an IM. Let's keep this up top and make it happen.

I spoke with Don last weekend about this event. I do believe that the 3rd and 17th he has the range booked with a class.
When he hosts events like this, it isn't on the "public" come and go anytime range, it's on another piece of property that he reserves for events. You can see his calendar here: http://www.proteqrange.net/2014_May.pdf Might we consider moving it to the 10th instead?

I will get in touch and just give ballpark estimates to see if he can lock down a date. |

If I can get my tax check by then I will be down. Until that happens I will have two car payments and they will kill my wallet.
You guys won't pick on the fat guy will ya?

Might be able to make it, A little bit of a drive. I have a Texas star and several pepper poppers I could bring if I can make it.

If we can get a date set then I will see about bringing the MG42 and other full auto goodies

So, is full auto ok then? I've got several MG's I can bring. View Quote Sorry guys. Ive been overloaded with work and school and havent been able to pursue this as much as I would like. Tomorrow I am going to try to get to proteq and try to talk to Don about the shoot and get answers lined out. (also getting a membership) His calender has a date set already on may 3rd, 17th, and 18th, so those dates are out unfortunatly. |

Well i got into contact with Don again. All Saturdays for may and april have been filled. The way he schedules is strange because he has "backup" days so if a class/shoot is cancelled it can be pushed back to the closest secondary days.
(Someone more familiar with Don amd the range may be able to explain it better than me.) I think we only have 3 options at this point. 1. Find a different range for a shoot in a similar time frame. 2. Set a date further into.the summer at pro teq 3. Not be awesome and cancel the 2014 shoot. Let me know what you guys think. I know the dates have changed alot but its all out of my control. |
