For food and entertainment the popular places to go are Washingtonian Center and Kentlands, but if you want good bbq you will have to drive a bit. (to Frederick)

Interesting places to see in the area?  There really aren't any, most of the interesting stuff is around DC/ the beltway.  You could visit great falls and enjoy the views (billy goat trail offers the best, but it is a relatively difficult trail)

dog fish is always a good choice.

When I lived up there, Growlers in downtown was a good brewpub.  Good mix of beers and the food was above average.  They did have live music upstairs on some nights.
