I really like the idea of a 1911 in 9mm, primarily cause i dont have one! Thinking about a 1911 Pro Series 9mm made by S&W, looks sexy but looks are not errthing.
Thoughts?
Anybody have one, what kind?
Like it ?
Reliable?
Why are they so damn expensive?

I have a friend with an RIA gi style in 9mm. He loves it.   Always goes bang and he got it used for less than 400.

An antique design in a girly-man caliber.  Sounds about right for a couple of flamboyant homos out on a weekend of antiquing.  Now to pick up a rhinestoned and beaded holster.

Antiques are typically over priced.

I'd have one if they didn't cost what they do.

Maybe build one?

Edit:   Just looked at the RIA.  Maybe I'll get one as a starter 1911.   (New thread coming)

Best deal out there is the RIA 9mm/22TCM packages. You get 2 caliber/barrels, good sights, parts, and grip scales, reliable gun, and an soft armor AP capable pistol. Whole lot of fun.

Davidson's has the full spread at competitive prices. The double stacks are high cap here, but they have a single stack version of each @ 10+1.

I am a long time fan of the 1911.  Putting 9mm in a large, steel framed platform like the 1911 is a winner.

Accurate and smooth shooting, and with the excellent 9mm bullets we have today, very effective.

A handgun cartridge, no matter how powerful, is always a compromise in stopping power.  With the proper loading, 9mm will do what it needs to.

I am checking it out.  So far I like it.

I NEED a 1911 anyway, don't I?

9mm 1911s are really fun to shoot, perhaps moreso than BHPs. (I own a BHP, which I enjoy shooting, but my experience with another site member's 9mm 1911, was even better.)

Last year I was considering buying a Commander length Spartan at NGX but missed out on it. I have toyed with buying a full size version, but have yet to want one bad enough to pay the money.

The RIA looks interesting.
I have a lot of guns. That being said, I am looking into the 9mm 1911 cause I like the 1911 and feel that it would be a fun gun in 9mm. I have more than a few Glocks, CZ's, BHP's, Sigs, FN's and 1911's, just dont have a 1911 in 9 ( I am not a fan of .40 or 357 sig).
The Dan Wesson is nice but its more than I want to spend on a handgun, I think my tops is about $1200 and that would be pushing it... unfortunately

Girly-man 9mm caliber in a 1911 is like shooting nerf gun rounds out of an Abrams tank.....  silly.

(I was thinking about buying a different Springfield and the Gear Up deal makes new more economical than used- even though I don't usually need that many extra mags)

Springfield is honoring the Gear Up promotion in Connecticut, correct?

Two different animals........1911 in 9mm a well kept secret....sold off my 45acp ones over a decade ago ....less recoil, cheaper ammo.....its only a win/win decision.........

.38 super.
If I had a bottomless pit of money or got one for a present, I would want one in .38 super over 9 mm. And I love me some 9mm. As it stands, 1911 in classic .45 is as far as I was willing to go with a range gun that's not going to get carried and therefore not practical.

Springfield range officer operator. That gun makes me want to sell my 1911 45 and get it instead.

I tried a Wilson Cqb in 9mm. Ended up selling it.
It worked and was very accurate, But I think their are much better platforms for the 9mm round.

Girly-man 9mm does NOT belong in a 1911.

If you really need to be a sissy, but aren't ready for a sex change yet buy a Hi Point in 9mm.

I built a 9mm in 1911 and its a blast to shoot.  I have a 10mm and 45 in a 1911 and wanted a 9mm cheaper to shoot and just plain fun. But if I were to do it over I would have just bought one already done. I have way too much $ into this gun.
