So my wife and I enjoy going away for long 3-day weekends as funds allow. I was thinking about doing a trip / spa type thing for our next little get-away.

One place that I thought of was Waters Edge in Westbrook. I have been there before, and it is a really nice place to just get away and relax. I was not super blown away with the on-site food, but I'm sure there are other places we can go for a nice dinner out.

Now here's where it gets a little... iffy.

I did the same type of trip with an ex-gf at Waters Edge. We did a 3 day weekend and did a day at the spa. We both got massages.

Do you guys think it would be weird to repeat the same trip with my now-wife?

Also, is there any other places in New England that are along the same lines as Waters Edge? I now of one in Newport RI, but it is pretty pricey, more-so than Waters Edge.

While I agree with this, will your wife care if she knew? If you are not absolutely sure then the answer is yes, she will care very much. If anything comes up where you need to say you've been there before, cat's outa the bag and long weekend will suck. Just my .02, but use an abundance of caution on this one.

Green Mountain Inn in VT is nice.  Good food is available all over the place up there and it is not too expensive since it is not peak season.

This right here. As much as I love the Florida Keys, I can't convince my wife to go there with me because I went there with my ex. Wimmenz...you can't live with them and they can't pee standing up.

Do you really want the ARFCOM curse to strike?

Does the now wife know about the ex-gf? Does the now wife know you took the ex-gf to that place for a romantic getaway?

Just seems like your setting yourself up to have an angry wife if she doesn't know about your past history with the place. I'd find some other place. But that's me. <shrugs>

Haha came to post this.

Just don't mention it you'll be fine. Personally I would find a new spot though.

Just got back from a 3-day weekend in Stowe. My SO and I love VT, we can't recommend it enough. There is much to see and do, and you don't even need to spend a lot of money. I mean, you can, but you don't have to.

Stowe is a resort town, you can't run out of shit to do in 3 days.

Wow, strange coincidence. I was just up in VT this weekend as well, visiting family in the Morrisville area. We drove through Stowe and past the Green Mountain Resort as well (Thanks for the heads up milecreekmustang).

The wife knows I went to Waters Edge with an ex-gf, but I have never thrown around the idea of taking the wife there.

Thanks all for confirming my suspicions. Either I should talk it over with her and see how she feels about it, or just find a new place all-together.

I agree.
Plenty of other places to go.
It can be a new experience-memory you both can share. And no risk of a fight

Do it!  Bring the ex-gf and make it a threesome.  Then report back here.....  with pictures... or better yet video.

If you go to Stowe, I would grab a beer at Doc Ponds.  Grab dinner at least one night at Harrisons.  Prohibition Pig in Waterbury is good.

If you stop in a grocery store or gas station in VT or NH and they have it, grab some chocolate milk from McNamara Dairy.  It will be glass bottled, its pretty close to a milkshake.

And stop at the Alchemist at 10:00am and get some ridiculous beer.

And hike Mt. Mansfield, or cheat and ride the gondola up Stowe and then hike the rest of the ridge to Mansfield. On a clear day you can see Mt. Washington from there, it's one of the most spectacular views I've ever taken in.

And on Saturday Waterbury hosts VTs biggest flea market. Some cool shit to be found, including firearms.

Right down the road from that is Parros Gun Sales, great store. Bought my first gun, an RRA TO2 LAR15 from there.

Second Prohibition Pig, five minutes from Parros, which is five minutes from the flea market.

Burlington, a disgusting liberal Mecca, is about 30 minutes north, too, if you're looking for more. Church street is worth checking out once.

Norwich Inn and Spa. Killer.

Shop at the casinos.  Restaurants.  I don't gamble but you can obviously do that too.

Bring the wife and ex to Waters Edge and live out your fantasy. Then call Conndcj for his recommendation of a good divorce lawyer.

I would find your own spot. Mystic has some nice places.

So quick update.

I talked to the wife about possibly doing a 3-day weekend / spa retreat. Hey eyes lit up as she loves taking little trips like this. I happen to mention waters edge, and she said that sounds like fun. I brought up the ex (she knows we went there), and she said that doesn't bother her.

Personally, i think we would have fun at Waters Edge and it wouldn't be any issue. However, I agree with you guys (well, most of you) and that finding a new place for new memories would be a better idea.

Okay you're half way to my fantasy.  Now contact the ex-gf and tell her to meet y'all where you're going.  Better to beg wife for forgiveness than for permission.  Don't forget the video camera.
