What a difference a couple months makes! These were literally taken less than two months apart.

He graduated his "Family Dog 1" training classes at "Tails U Win" in Manchester last week, starts "Family Dog 2" tomorrow.

ETA: Another size comparison.

Have kids while you are young. They grow fast and you can enjoy doing things with them. Worth it!

We feed him smaller dogs.

He eats like a king. Blue Wilderness Puppy kibble and pumpkin is his regular diet, with white rice and chicken mixed  in a couple times a week. We throw in random veggies and other meats and things from time to time as well. He gets trained heavily and for a lot of it we use chicken, steak, meatballs, duck, rabbit, whatever meat we can demand his focus with.

4-6 months is just their rapid growth stage. It's supposed to slow down a bit but he could keep growing until 1 year.. I think he's gonna be 80ish pounds but the trainers all think he'll be closer to 100.

ha! This one too. Don't get me wrong, Im ready for spring, but I fully enjoy how much he loves the snow. He could chase snowballs for hours on end. It'd kill him to bring one back, but he won't stop running after them if I didn't stop throwing them.

I think we got our dogs about the same time. He eats 3 times a day. 6 to 9 cups. Plus raw chicken backs when we have them.

They grow quick. This fucker is like a great white shark with fur and 4 legs.

He has drive. Ball and obviously food. Working on heel command now.

I have had rotties. And I have a pitlab rescue now also. But this GSD takes the cake. Smart.

Mine hasnt been as aggressive for food as he used to be...he still doing 4lbs raw a day

Holy shit 6-9 cups!?!? What kind of food?

Zeke gets 2 1/2 - 3 1/2.

Smart as all hell for sure. He's got all the basic commands down as well as a couple tricks like spin & roll-over, were mostly just hammering down on the Really Reliable Recall (emergency recall) and loose leash walking now. And socializing him as much as I possibly can, he goes everywhere with me and meets as many people as possible. He's miles ahead of all the other dogs in his training classes, and some of them are like 2-3 years old.

Are any of your guys' dogs bell-trained to go outside?

Ours has food aggression We've been hand feeding him for like two months now.

If we put his bowl down he growls if you get anywhere near him while he's eating.

Its my only gripe with him. Its aggravating as all hell. He is super polite and pleasant when the bowl is in your hand, or if your holding the bowl while he's eating out of it.

Mine gets a lil hyper and walks up to the door and touches the handle to the door with his nose.

Link Posted: 4/4/2016 8:43:54 PM EDT

Choke collar or leash.

Or pincher.

Correction when he's aggressive.

I have 5 kids. No place for a food aggressive dog in this house

Hand feed is good. I usually put my hand in his food and pet him also whilet he eats.

No bell for outside. I know people that have done that. But I got an electric fence. So my dogs are just outside. Haha

Blue diamond. Chicken and brown rice for puppy. Plus whatever raw chicken I have.

I feed him morning and night. My wife gives him an extra bowl. He plays the hungry game with her after he is fed and gets another bowl. My other dog was always thinice, now he's getting fat. So I only give him 2 cups a day.

Nothing. He hasn't acted on any aggression, just growls and climaxes at a bark, at which point he pees. Then goes and hides his head in the corner for peeing in the house. Then when your done cleaning his piss, he comes and tries to climb on you and lick your face and apologize. Lol

Assuming we've already messed up and given him the bowl; We're told by our trainers not to take the bowl away as it just reinforces his perceived need to resource guard. He's growling because he thinks he'll lose his food, if we take it away were proving he's right. So we just never give him the bowl and we haven't had an issue.

On the rare occasion I give him the bowl, like if Im running late or something, we're supposed to just give it to him and stay away so he can eat without event.

We think he was the runt, and probably from a puppy mill, he is an anxious dog.

We've completed an 8 week class at a place in Manchester and begin his second 8 week class next week. He's a fantastic dog in every other aspect, super friendly and loving, just not when he's eating.
