I unfortunately have to take my wife and daughter to a concert the first week of August and again the first week of September.  While I'm not watching the shows, I'm staying over each night and am trying to figure out which of the numerous bars and restaurants are best.  I do NOT gamble.  Never have, never will.  Just looking for a couple of nice places to kill the evening since this will be my first time there.  Thanks.

ETA: The best burger would be key for HH6 and my kid.

While not fine fare at all, the Sports Bar has yummy ballpark pretzels and wings. The osso Bucco at the main Italian place under the Mountain was disappointing, and the salmon overcooked. I have not eaten at Micheal Jordan's but my Dad has and I'd go there next time rather than the Italian place.

Bar American was good, fancy. There's also the bobby flay burger palace, just burgers and drinks. I would stop here if you crave a burger.

There's Margaritaville next to the poker room, I've never eaten there though. I would assume they have a selection of margaritas to buy.

You can even smoke in there although the restaurant may set their own rules.

I've eaten at just about every one of the casino restaurants. 97% of them serve tacky casino-like food which is prepared way in advance . Bobby flays burgers are pretty decent although it's extremely casual, ( you don't even get your own table). I'd say it's one of the better places. Margaritaville is ok, not great. Food is hit or miss at that place. Hash house a go go is pretty good too and it's right next to bobby flays. Huge portions of food an it's all decent . You can try the upper end places but they are just a waste of money IMO .

to me the casinos are a giant scam of food

When I go I play blackjack for a couple hours and drink free jack n cokes. After a couple hours Im pretty buzzed and everything tastes good.

I prefer margharitaville over most of the other places.

Lots of eye candy. Lots.

The dubliner or what ever is good too.  Some eye candy as well.  Not sure if it's still called that... It's up stairs above the shops.  Irish place with some American food. Check the menu out as you walk by

Another place to check out is aroogas. its new and not actually inside mohegan but on the property. its like a 1 minute drive out of the parking garage . I haven't been there yet but the menu looks good. Again its a big chain from what I understand and they seem to always be near a casino.

I've been to mohegan so many times that we wont even eat there anymore. either the food isn't worth the money or its just plain sucks. we ordered nachos from margaritaville once and they came out frozen. literally they came out in a flash frozen block. they must make the food way ahead of time and heat it per order.

I don't gamble so I have only been to Mohegan for business meetings. Usually those are catered but once we ordered off the menu at Michael Jordan's steakhouse.

MJ's was underwhelming at best . The steak I had was not very tender and it wasn't cooked how I ordered it. I was glad I didn't pay. I would not go back.

I like the Summer Shack. Fish and other stuff, all is good. All expensive though.

Thanks for all of the help. I almost forgot about smoking. I'll bring cigars.

I eat with them before they go to the concert. Looks like Bobby ' s Burger or Johnny Rockets. I'm more interested in a bar.  I like the looks of the Irish bar Lansdowne.  My kind of place.

Flay's is alittle more "classy" for lack of a better work, but if you want that nice greasey burger with fries, onion rings and a chocolate malt johnny rocket's is the place to go

I only use the casino for gambling purposes now a days. I don't even drink there anymore . Asked for jack Daniels neat once and caught them mixing water in it. Told them I didn't want water and they gave me like half an ounce pour .

I was there sat night. Hit the high hand jackpot with a royal flush in the poker room for 1700.

Damn it.  I'm there the 2nd to the 3rd.  There are places you can smoke cigars everyday, aren't there?  Would like to have one to pass the time when they are at the concert.

There are smoke free gaming areas but most of the floor you can smoke. I'm not sure about the restaurants.

It's $150 a ticket.  The $20  is a food/drink token.

I disagree.  It was some of the worst slop I'd ever had.
