Guys
Are any semi Chinese aks made prior to state ban in the 90's good to go since all were imported prior to ban or are some a no go because of ak type wording.  I know this has been discussed ad nauseum but not so much in the context of the difference between the models imported prior to the bush senior ban in 89 and the later neutered mak90 variants.

That's what I thought but I wanted to ask since I have a line on an early 80's norinco aks47 for a good price.

Grab it!

Guess it depends on if $900-1000 is a good deal

If you can choose between paying 900 or 1000 I would personally go with 900, cause that would be cheaper. I say FO! It is always better to have an AK than not have one. Especially if you dont plan on moving out of CT soon. You never know what fucked up laws will be passed next.

Before you grab something, thinking its something, but it being something else.......

The chinese ak's that are pre89 will have Type 56 or some variant written somewhere on it.  Make sure thats what your looking at.  Thats a very good deal for a pre89.  So if it is the real deal JUMP on it!
Pre89 means something to everyone(at a national level) so there is a premium for these.  Then the preban Chicom AK's are highly regarded so there is another premium added.

If it says ak47, sporter, nhm, mak anywhere on it, it is not pre89, but is still pre94.  But that is a little too much to pay for one of these.

It is a sile NY NY import so I know it's early.  I have I go and look to see the markings but I was using the link below as a guide because I remember it saying ak47 on it but wouldn't bet my life.

That seems like a good deal for that rifle if it's in nice shape.

It's in good shape, definitely used with some signs of wear, no box or accessories

The only thing I can say for certainty is that it is for sure legal to have in CT, because its pre 94.  It may also be pre89 and if thats the case your getting it for a steal.  If its pre89 it will also surely have a cleaning rod.  If its post 89 your paying a little more than you should, but not too bad.  It also may or may not have a cleaning rod.

Does the front sight have a hood over it, or is it open?

At $900 that's a good deal for a 56s rifle. They are selling for over 1k everyday. I paid $1150 for my 56s-1. At $900 you can't get hurt. If you decide to sell it you will easily get your money back. If you don't buy it IM me the details and I'll pick it up

Well they were asking $1250 and dropped to $1k.  I will shoot to get this for $800. Been on the shelf for over a month.
