Much closer to home, easy to just go. Which I need to do more! And my other club is expanding out to 250 possibly farther in the near future. I'm going to preface this with this website - if you're ever going to build a deck and want to go the Trex route, go here. http://luxuryliquidationsale.com/
They are located in Auburn MA and they saved me nearly $2000 on our decking and railing materials. They buy discontinued and overstock straight from the manufacturer and pass the savings on to their customers. We ordered all our decking boards and Trex Premium Handrail from them, he showed me my invoice and then we put it all in a cart on the Lowes website as a comparison and it was laughable. $2k savings. This is what I had to begin with. Heinously dilapidated. Attached File This is what I drew up and used for permitting. Attached File I built this crane thing for my truck for firewood gathering (I use log tongs for wood) but it proved useful here, too. Ripped the old concrete piers right out of the ground. Attached File Attached File My supervisor, Zeke, insisted I build a temporary ramp so he could still get in and out of the back door while I lumbered my way through this project solo. Attached File Now I'm just waiting for the decking to come in and it'll be done just in time for summer. |
|
|
The ramp is gone now and the framing is complete, my supervisor is pissed.
I'll put up the posts for the railings today, and if I'm feeling industrious I'll start making the stair stringers but I've got all week. The decking won't be in until next week. Next weekend I should finish it up. Attached File |

Looking good, though And to anyone else thinking of using composite: Definitely do some checking to see how hot the surface gets. I've been on composite decking that was so hot it felt like my feet were going to melt. There are brands out there that claim to keep the temp down. Something to think about. |

Nice job Zegerman!
If you ever need help just call. I have done projects like this many times. I have built houses from scratch before. I built my garage myself. My wife is right along side me working. During the construction of my garage she slipped with the framing nailer while nailing rafters and put a nail into my elbow. It went in about an inch and a half. That hurt! Some paper towels and duct tape and I was back at it. |

Nice work! A little more information on your "crane"? Is it winch powered or hand cranked?

I hate it when that happens (and love it too). Now you can fire it once and put it in the back of the safe knowing that you own it and it's yours! ETA: 44 mag? |
