Most of the time being direct and to the point pays off...I am hoping that what I am about to write pays off, anyway.

Ever since leaving the USAF in 2012, I have had problems finding a new career to call home.

I struggled getting any job- period- immediately after getting out and earning my chosen Master's degree (Criminal Justice, with a lot of focus on Correctional Rehabilitation).  I landed an oilfield job as a fracking hand, and worked a job delivering pizzas in times where I had to fill in the gaps.  Before too long, I saw the writing on the wall and decided to get out of the oilfield, and took a job doing rehab work for behaviorally- and mentally-underperforming kids.  This is one of the toughest jobs I've ever done, but that's a whole 'nother post.

Once again, I am seeing that writing on the wall- our old agency has been bought out by a new agency, and I have watched our old-agency staff (yours truly included!) get whittled down and/or reassigned, quite arbitrarily, to jobs that are de-facto punishments likely designed to make us want to quit.  Up until recently, I was willing to tough it out and make the best of it.  I have since decided that this isn't going to work, and have been seeking new jobs like mad.

...and come back with nothing.  Lots of leads going going nowhere; one of my friends even all but promised me a General Manager position within his company, but after submitting my application and waiting 2 months, no recruiter is contacting me and the friend says the recruiter's giving him the runaround.

Isn't the beginning of the year supposed to be hiring-blitz time for most businesses?

So, as I have done before ( a time ago ), I come to fellow arfcommers for help.  Last time I did this, I got plenty of job leads and two interviews that each turned into job offers over a very short time.  One brief boost of job leads and confidence yielded more in a month's time than several months of trying to do it "on my own," is pretty amazing to me.    I know that it might not be that easy or quick this time around what with the Obamanation-damaged economy and job market we currently have, but at this moment I have nothing solid to go on so any change will be an improvement.  I have a generalized resume available- please PM me if you can help!

TL; DR  Living in OKC area and having a hard time finding a job that I can call "home" and make into a career.  Current job is trying to flush me and I am surely a dead man walking; need a new job before the other shoe drops.

I was a 21M and 12R in the USAF, afterward I worked in the oilfield as a fracker, and I currently work with children/adolescents who are just this side of juvie/prison; I am not afraid of hard jobs!  PM me for a resume and/or suggestions.  Jobs I can begin training for (or actually doing!) within 30 days would be great!

There is lot more riding on my success than just my self-sustainment:

^ Yeah, I looked at state jobs.  Nothing but a few entry-level positions paying $10/hr; not enough to support a family of 4.

On the east side of Tinker they have a large "Now Hiring" sign for the OC-ALC (I believe that's what they're hiring for).  Would be worth checking out.  I know it sucks starting from the bottom but a good career can be had with Walmart.  Several stores around the OKC metro need good talent right now.

Dell is hiring. Mostly tech support stuff (not just for computers), but some sales as well (typically called "inside product specialist" roles).

I've been OOW since last September. Unemployment is exhausted next week. My dad is terminally ill in Missouri so I've been holding off searching for a FT position. Since there isn't going to be any extension on the unemployment benefits I've stepped up my efforts and can tell you that there are a lot of jobs you'll qualify for on usajobs.com or the Oklahoma job search site that are well above the wages you quoted. Good luck!

Thank you all for your suggestions so far.

In the time since I made this post, the other shoe has dropped: the agency "discharged" me, making some frivolous write-ups they sicced on me the week before they officially fired me.

The write-ups were paper-thin, but I still had to get with OESC and clear things up so that I could still draw UI.  Thankfully I was ruled eligible for benefits after some "investigation" effort on their part was made.

One of my friends was not so fortunate; he was told he was going to be fired, and then basically coerced/fooled into signing a "resignation form" and didn't tell anyone till well after the fact- so, no UI money for him.

I am in the process of going into business for myself (due to a chance encounter I had in the process of refinancing my house), but I am still sending out applications because a) I don't know if I can make enough income on my own in the beginning so that we meet all our expenses, and b) I have credentials and other certifications I need to establish before I can properly begin this self-employment endeavor.

Just thought you all might want to know how things are going: rough, but then good, with a chance of becoming really good in the relatively-near future.
