They arrested 5% of the town population, and it looks like they want to arrest another 5% based on who is still at large.

I don't think I'll ever visit Clayton, OK.

It's a shame too. People wonder why it's dying.

The one citizen quoted says "I'm sorry to say, that's just the way it is in this town".  Says a lot about that area.  I grew up in a tiny rural town but we didn't have any issues like that.

The second article says the highest paid deputy in the county, including the sheriff, is $24,000 a year.  Making ends meet with $24k a year is tough, imagine what it's like for all the other employees making significantly less.  You can kind of see the motivation for these folks to engage in illegal activities to support their families.  All while our politicians live in their plush houses and have never gone to bed wondering how to just get through the next day.  The disparity of wealth and power in America is way too far out of whack.

True, but most of our legislators are "independently wealthy", not to mention their "off camera" incomes.  There's definitely no similarities to the lives of our politicians and the folks living in rural America.

I've ridden ATV's there a few times and had a blast. Beautiful place (State Park). Lots of wide open logging trails and crystal clear ponds and creeks with nice fish. Did come up on an shack like old house way out there (only house I saw after riding far and wide for days) and 2 dogs charged my dad and I. Needless to say we floored it and got out of there. Appeared to be a possible drug hideout.
