Thinking about a SIG MCX 5.56mm Pistol with arm brace for truck gun and backpack travel. Can someone enlighten me on the VA laws about pistols that are more like carbines? I have a concealed handgun permit... Any maximum pistol lengths? Anything else I should know about?

Not that I've ever seen or heard of. The only thing I've seen within that realm has to do with gun able to take suppressors, over 20 rounds of ammo, etc. But that's all moot if you have a CHP or other qualifiers.
