[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Where do you send NFA forms to be signed in Fairfax County?

I haven't done this in forever.

I've used my trust for all of my NFA transfers, but now I am doing a C&R NFA transfer, and so because I am using my C&R license, I cannot use the trust and have to do an individual transfer again.

Do any of you know where to send it, and whom to address it to? Also, do you use some kind of form letter to explain it?

I remember there was some concern about the new Sheriff because she made some anti-guns statements when she was running, but I've heard that she just continued her predecessor's policy of signing NFA forms anyway.

ETA: Is it the Sheriff or the Chief of Police that you need the signature from? Does it matter?

The Chief of Police won't sign, so the Sheriff is the one you want. And the last that I heard, you had to take it in person, since they'll need to take your finger prints.

So actually go to the Fairfax Co. Courthouse and drop them off (with a self-addressed stamped envelope), or does some clerk sign them there while you wait?

I just realized that the Sheriff's web site actually has a detailed set of instructions specifically for submitting Form 1 and Form 4 for approval/signature.

Neat.

That makes things a lot easier. Should have looked more closely in the first place!

What about Arlington county? I know its waaaay more purple/blue there but is the Sheriff willing to sign?

I already have a trust and two cans so Im familiar with the trust route but from what Ive gathered recently about 41P, even trusts are going to require CLEO sign offs starting sometime soon.
