Got a old remington rolling block 22 . my dad gave it to me yesterday. went to shoot it and the cases are rupturing. it was my great grandfathers. i would like to find a gunsmith in the richmond area that can repair it and return it to shooting condition. could not find much info on it on google other than i thing its a model 2 rolling block pre take down model.

If it's a take-down, then it's a Number 4. Take a look at the rear of the receiver. The rear of the receiver on the Number 2 is curved, while the rear of the receiver on the Number 4 is straight.

As for the splitting cases, you best bet is to have the barrel relined. Contact R.A. (Bobby) Hoyt at (717) 642-6696. He does excellent work, and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. He has relined several guns for me, and I was always very happy with his work. You may have to call him 2 or 3 times. He runs a one-man shop, and cannot always come to the phone.
