I wonder what kind of drill bit tapers... Must be a specialty drill... Sounds like delicate work too. Not too deep, not too shallow, but right in the middle, and end up in the middle on the other side too.
Maybe a new barrel would be easier and cheaper, sell your old one? Let us know how it goes... Rmpl |

No, standard drill bits (#30 IIRC), but a tapered reamer is used after the holes are drilled.
