So it looks like a lot of people would be interested in a trip to The Cove for some shooting fun and meeting and greeting. I figured I'd start a poll and see what works for who, see who's going, and see who needs a ride, etc. All of this is assuming the weather cooperates. I'm not going if it rains.
The Cove Campground 980 Cove Road Gore, VA, 22637 Open 8am - 10pm Sat Range: The target range has a 100 yard section, a 35 yard section, and a 15 yard section. Rules: Firearms must be legal in the State of Virginia. Please clean up after yourself. Free trashbags and a trash facility are located in the office. Tracers and armor-piercing bullets are NOT allowed. You will need to bring your own targets and stands. It's literally on the side of a mountain - you'll need to bring food/water/sunscreen/whatever you think you'll want. |

Any Saturday for me. Gives me Sunday to clean the guns before work on Mondays.
Also, the range spec's aren't up to date. They now have 30-45 yard wide range out to about 100 yards with big steel silhouettes at around 85 and 100 yards. 4 total. Looks to be 500 Brinell steel. They do have an upper section you have to walk to and there you can get anywhere from 0 feet to about 20 yards distance. Approximately 20 yards wide. I was there about 2-3 weeks ago and they were going to be pushing the dirt from the upper range over to the right side to extend the width of the range. They could have started that already. |

me and a buddy were going to be going up to the cove one weekend coming up to do a little shooting. depending on the date that gets set up for this i'll try to make it , it's always nice to meet other local members

I would be in for nov 8th but would also be in for somewhere closer like quantico, fredericksburg or richmond. My neighbor might be in also. Would most likely bring the wife and kids.

I'm up for that as well. We did a non-shooting event at Bulldog's house (where has he been, btw?) and it was really nice. Quoted:

It tells us one of the rich members here needs to buy a chunk of land thats closer.
That is one thing bad about eastern Va.The lack of outdoor shooting ranges.unless you are in a club there is nowhere to shoot outdoors.But the clubs have so many rules in place it makes you not want to join.

I had a chance to buy 4 acres a couple years back for $14k. Owner financed w/no additional fees for 5yrs. $235 bucks a month. 
He was moving out of state and didn't want to deal with it. Out in the sticks, too. |

I vote the weekend of Nov 1st. I could shoot on Sunday too
I have a AR500 dual spinner target too 4" and 6" that I would like to use. Also would be happy to bring some stuff out for everyone to shoot TiRant 9 with Glock and DDLES pistol host 762-SDN with AAC 16" 300blk also works with a few other ARs M1A AES-10b that would be fun Benelli M2 1 tip is, don't get all of your bags and guns out at the same time. If it's windy, you will sand in EVERYTHING Also, bring your own firewood, theirs to buy is from a big pile and if it has rained in the past week, it won't start |
