You do not need to notify LE in Virginia, but if an officer asks for your CHP, you must provide that with an acceptable photo id (DL is fine).
It s usually suggested to let an officer know ahead of time that you have a permit and are carrying....as a courtesy. |

If you get stopped, just give him your DL and License that way he knows you are carrying.
