Hey guys. Long story short,  i have a family emergency and am on the way to VA from NC. I know both states have reciprocity,  but in NC you have to announce to law enforcement that you have a concealed permit and have your gun on you. Is it the same in VA? Any help on VA's concealed carry laws would be appreciated!

You do not need to notify LE in Virginia, but if an officer asks for your CHP, you must provide that with an acceptable photo id (DL is fine).

It s usually suggested to let an officer know ahead of time that you have a permit and are carrying....as a courtesy.

Thanks for the heads up, if I get stopped I'll be sure to give the officer the heads up!

If you get stopped, just give him your DL and License that way he knows you are carrying.

Actually, you shouldn't do anything but pull over with your hands on the wheel until the officer approaches. Then you can get your paperwork out.

Of course. I wasn't going through the entire traffic stop, just a subtle way of informing him you are carrying without alarming people.
