Bad day, but GREAT Planes

TBMs at Peru IL airport.

We went last year. Was great. 

Had to finish up some plumbing in the basement. 

Wish I went to the airport . 

Wow I didn't even know there were that many Avengers still air worthy let alone in the same place.  Amazing aircraft, especially considering they used them on escort carriers.   The first time I saw a TBM Avenger in person I was amazed by the size.  That particular TBM was used as a water bomber for forest fires.  The TBM had engine trouble and landed in a field.  The plane had to be disassembled and hauled out on semi trucks to the airport where I saw it.  Took a lot of courage to go to war in one of those.  The radioman/bombardier having to man the gun in the belly would be no treat.
