As there is also a proponent slip from same person, I suspect the opponent slip  is an error and it cant be deleted (or even changed if you werent logged into your account) from what I understand.  Ive heard this can easily happen if posting from a phone, but I dont know.     Suspicion is also not an actual ISRA official, but someone incorrectly entering form data.

5/4 bill update  (also updated OP)

As at the previous meeting the bill was also postponed at the 5/2 committee hearing. It is now rescheduled for 5/9/17. While possible it won't be called or it will be postponed again, witness slips are open for the new hearing.

Scheduled Date 5/09/2017 - 5:15 PM
Location 400 - Capitol - - Springfield, IL
Posting Date 5/03/2017 - 5:00 PM

Witness slips may be tracked and entered at

http://my.ilga.gov/Hearing/HearingDetail/14909?SCommittees5/10/2017-page=1&SCommittees5/10/2017-orderBy=&SCommittees5/10/2017-filter=&committeeid=0&chamber=S&nodays=7&_=1493862238910

Please be sure to double check Proponent is selected

Currently at 167-3  However as soon as the anti call goes out from ARS, Everytown, Moms, GPAC, ICHV,  Safer Society, Brady Campaign, etc I expect it to change.

And, in case you've been in a coma the past week ,  don't forget to contact your House Rep about opposing SB1657.

We officially suck. I guess that no one in Illinois wants suppressors. We have had the votes to pass this but if we don't show interest that can all change.

in 3 days we went from
167 - 3

to
238 - 122

to
277 - 297

and now 12 hrs or so later
310 - 508

Those are not impressive numbers to make committee members  take consideration of people watching the bill and their risk at reelection time.    Obviously the alerts I saw go out on some anti social media sites have been effective.

Its always possible the bill doesn't get called if sponsor doesnt believe there are enough committee votes  and there will be another opportunity.

It would be nice if the NRA ILA was sending alerts for this bill. All I ever get are alerts for the licensing bill.

For one thing, I suspect that SB1657 has taken up more resource effort and time and recognized as a top priority.

Also with committee make up, I would guess 2 Chi Dems would need to be turned which is probably not easy.  So MY GUESS would be they are saving alerts for when there is a higher confidence of the votes.  I would not be surprised to see it postponed again tomorrow.

EDIT: Interesting...I see the bill has been reassigned to assignments again but is still on schedule for tommorrow.   Not sure what that means in terms of committee originally in and where it goes to get out of committee by month end.   I see our buddy Sen Harmon is on assignments so Im sure he will be rushing to get the bill moved along.

I wonder where the antis are organizing to get those numbers.

I think they have learned from our successes.  I think they tend to use Facebook and Twitter more than message boards/web sites, although I have seen them reference alerts before so not sure if thats email or their social media.

Brady Campaign, Moms Demand, People for Safer Society, ICHV, Everytown, ARS, GPAC, and various organizations in North Shore all seem to get represented if you look at witness slips.  Some are new that I have not heard of e.g. Action for a Better Tomorrow, Indivisible IL.  Theres also a new site WitnessSlipsIL with Website, FB, and Twitter. While the site itself doesnt necessarily tell people the position  to take on slips, it feels left/anti (but perhaps thats because of the comments and posts Ive read there)  and it does give instructions for completing slips.   I saw posts there urging them to reach 1000 opponents at last weeks hearing when bill was postponed.  As I dont do FB acct, Im limited on what I can see there and the other social sites.

330 - 638   They've been busy!

364 - 827

Looks like SB0050 has been removed from todays committee schedule.   The bill deadline expired May 5th and it went back to assignments.   Today the bill was reassigned to criminal law committee, but is no longer on the agenda for today.

The deadline has been extended to May 19th so we should have a chance to do slips again when it makes it to a committee meeting agenda

 5/5/2017SenateRule 3-9(a) / Re-referred to Assignments
 5/9/2017SenateRule 2-10 Committee Deadline Established As May 19, 2017

I wonder if that will stay?   Extended deadline for bill was 5/19 which is this week.  Last time it passed deadline date, it was removed from agenda the day of and had to go back to assigments for reassigning to committee.

Fighting the gun dealer licensing bill in the House is taking up a lot of resources.   They also have the AWB up in Senate committee next week too.

Deadline date was today, or rather yesterday the 19th.  Bill shows as being returned to asssgnments.  Bill status still shows  meeting scheduled...which I expect to be removed Mon and rescheduled after reassignment back to committee...but I could be wrong, although thats what happened last time.

Still don't know if this will still be heard tomorrow, but the antis have doubled their opposition slips in the last few hours and are now ahead.

In 24 hours they managed to add a couple hundred votes while we only did about 10.

But, bill was not called in committee hearing today so will keep an eye out for rescheduling.   Time is running out in the spring session.
