162-2-2
Who the hell takes time out if their day to fill out a witness slip to say they have no opinion.... We will see if the Senate president does the right thing this session. Hopefully they won't have to horse trade too much to get a floor vote on this.... |
|
I see St. Nicholas Parish and ICAHV have gotten the word out to oppose it.

Hit
1121 to 110, now if only they actually listen to us and not the Chicago rats. |

Have a link to the proposed bill handy? Here it is in all its glory. Notice no cc of pistol with can is called out this time. Link to the sausage factory itself. That will take away the antis major argument of last session. |
|
In a nutshell:
No restrictions on long gun cans. The only place a can may be on a handgun is at a range. No cans on CC arms. No preemption so there will be patchwork of ownership No preemption so there will be patchwork of laws concerning transportation. There is some terrorist reporting language in it that isn't horrible but could be worded a little better. |
|
Hey Mike might not be the right place to ask but is the likelyhood of this making it to the Senate floor better this session with the changes?
|
|
There are multiple issues in getting anything to the floor.
However, we're told some things have been worked out and with the narrow scope of the bill and the terrorist language, I would say it has a pretty good chance of getting a vote. |

You can't have a can on say, a home defense pistol? |

View Quote I know we have to start somewhere with a bill but would also be curious as to the antis thought process in blocking one on a home defense pistol...probably one of most likely locations to suffer hearing damage. |

View Quote Does this include the House as well as the Senate? I know they were a pro vote the last legislative session but theres new people and (tinfoil hat) perhaps they knew the Senate wasnt letting it go anywhere then. |

Opposition to the bill is pretty stiff in both houses. To me, that opposition is almost totally based on "movie perception". That and the antis are really upset that they can't get votes for passage of any of their bills.
The bill is very clear...pistols can only wear them at a range. Home use would be prohibited... |

No handgun hunting with suppressor.
Carrying unattached while CC??? From the bill: unless the use, attachment, or possession with the intent to use the device or attachment is on the premises of a firing or shooting range; So, if caught with it, it would be hard to argue that you didn't have intent to use it with the CC gun you are carrying that it just happens to fit. |

View Quote Well that sucks...I'd have the most use with 300 blackout pistol hunting with a suppressor as I don't use ear pro out in the field |

If interested, the bill is here
The most disturbing piece is: 430 ILCS 65/8(v) -- "Grounds for denial and revocation ... A person who is charged with making a terrorist threat as set forth in Section 29D-20 or soliciting or providing material support for terrorism as set forth in Section 29D-29.9 of the Criminal Code of 2012 or a similar offense of another state or under federal law." "Charged" not "Convicted" gents. So some asshat just negotiated away my 1A rights to codify incompletely exercising my 2A rights. Awesome. |

777 against now...looks like the antis are getting the message out

Damn. I've never seen them get this many before over 1100 now. View Quote Well, silencers make it possible for the next mass school shooter to kill everyone in the school and get away before the cops even know what's wrong ... because we've all seen how silent they are in movies ... and the shooter will carry those clips with 30 bullets ... and he won't need more than 1 to kill all 359 kids ... because he won't miss ... It's, ya know, "... for the children ..." [Eye roll] |

1058 against now. The opposition has been relentlessly spreading hysteria on social media on a national level ever since they found out about the federal HPA bill. We need to double or triple our witness slips, emails, and calls. Contact you IL senator asap and ask them to support sb50!!! |

As of 3:03 pm, the committee hearing for Wednesday is showing as cancelled on the ILGA page and slip creation is listed as expired. Maybe we get to start over!

Looking through the opponent witness slips, I keep seeing the same names with multiple slips filed(?).
