Schaumburg is not Chicago, not even close. unless you are from there and want to impress people and say you are from Chicago

- Check out Cabelas in Hoffman Estates (Its close), prices generally suck, but still fun to go.

- Check out some deep dish pizza at Lou Malnati's in Schaumburg (Roselle and Schaumburg Rd), I suggest deep dish sausage, mushroom, and pepperoni.  If you like veggies, get "The Lou"

- If you like Thai/Chinese, check out Big Bowl near Woodfield mall.

- Wildfire is pretty damn good for steaks, chops, etc.

Just some random thoughts for ya... :)

That would be Portillo's, and it's worth a visit.  There's one in Schaumburg on Golf Road.  Here's the full list of locations:  http://www.portillos.com/locations/

OP, are you also working in Schaumburg, or are you working in Chicago and commuting out to Schaumburg for the night?  If the latter, that's a crappy commute.  Welcome to Chicagoland.

What else... Do you gamble?  There's a riverboat casino in Elgin. http://www.grandvictoriacasino.com/

If at a portillos try out a chocolate cake shake. Don't worry it's diet.  . Love their ribs too.

Texas Brazil is in Woodfield mall next to PF Changs. Good Chinese food is at Yu's Mandorian on Golf Road.  Some good and pricey eats are nearby at Rosemont.  Wildberry for breakfast in Schaumburg.  Wildfire for very good steak.

so you're not in Chicago

Check out portillos. If you have money for a nice dinner check out gibsons steakhouse in rosemont. Or if you want to actually go to Chicago there are countless good places to eat. If you feel like going to the range there are a few indoor ranges in the suburbs that will let you rent, a cabelas in hoffman estates if you feel like looking at some guns.

There is a nice cigar bar. cigars only I think it is near Kays jewelers in woodfield, its in a strip mall when you enter the mall. Nice way to unwind. There is another one in Hanover Park. We live in Bartlett bet we never go to Schaumburg, cook county taxes and way to many people. There is a lot to do there, there is a nice bar/ restaurant across from Patrick cars caddy I forgot the name.

Get a burger at Kuma's Corner, be prepared to fight off some hipsters, but the food is AWESOME.

Buona Beef in Hoffman (right down higgins road) for a better beef than portillos

Portillos for hotdogs and chocolate cake

Grillhouse by David Burke for a good cut of midwest beef, dry aged and perfectly cooked

Village Tavern and Grill if you like really good chicken fingers and bar type food

And some notice next time since there are about 80 of us up here in this area.

Oh......

And Lou Malnatis for a pizza.

I went thru the same hell last year.  The Cabelas up there sucks, very few guns. I did find a couple of decent places to eat, but I've purged that place from my memory.

Just hope it doesn't snow.

Have you seen 13 hours yet?

I live 7-8 miles north of Woodfield, and the Buffalo Grove Portillo's, which is the one closest to me, nearly always has a line around the block. You want chaos? You need to see the one in Elk Grove Village (near my office). I refuse to go near it at lunch! Yes. Portillo's is a very big deal up here. The original owner recently sold to an investor group. I think the chain was founded in the early-mid 60s.

If it makes you feel better, I never got why it was such a huge deal either.  Its good, but for individual items they sell, there are better places.  I guess whats hard to find is a one stop shop that has everything they do.  For example, Buona Beef IMHO is better.  But they don't have hotdogs.  Nana's has better dogs, but no beef.....  I guess that may be it.  Its like the TGI Fridays of Chicago foods

You fail to mention the ribs. Also each Portillo has a different theme which is cool. I like the Arlington Hts & Vernon Hills joints, 20's gangster. Agree quality and speed has gone down a little but I still go there a lot.
