This is so stupid I`m speechless.  This sounds like something Jessie Jackson, and Pflager would come up with.

This is a gang problem, not a gun problem.  I haven't heard one idea on taking actions against gangs.

"If Kelly and Quigley really cared about violent crime, they'd spend their valuable time crafting a Good Neighbor Street Gang Act," continued Pearson. Such a law would allow Kelly and Quigley to personally award good neighbor certificates to gang bangers who stopped shooting up the streets of Chicago."

We all know this.  It's like outlawing cars because of drunk driving.

I feel that after working in a few violent areas of Illinois I have an informed opinion about this issue.

The way to deal with gang violence is in mandatory sentencing.

If you are a known gang member who uses a firearm during the commission of a criminal act, you should face a 20 year sentence without any hope of early release or parole.  Any other crimes related to the incident should add additional years to the sentence.

If you are a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, you should face the same sentence.

If you are arrested with a stolen firearm, you should face the same sentence.

Those who commit senseless, violent acts should be taken out of circulation.  Anyone who takes a life unlawfully and meets the above criteria should face the death penalty.

The proposed act is like banning automobiles to reduce drunk driving or banning families to reduce domestic violence.  That is the wrong way to address the issue.

Going after those who are responsible is the proper way to deal with this issue, but the Democrats would never stand for law enforcement and the judicial system interfering with their voting bloc.

Unfortunately, for a gang banger, a lot of them look at prison like a badge of honor, and probably already have friends/relatives already there.  So it's like a homecoming for them.

The problem lies at the heart of the progressive socialists who think that some are better than others, and we should dumb down to the lowest common denominator, and when we can't do that, we then dole out free shit to the lowest common denominator.  It keeps people subservient to the government and, keeps those same people voting for the same idiots over and over that give them free shit.

Chicago`s propaganda minister McCarthy was on the news  this week talking about the violence in Chicago, and he demanded more gun control, what I want to know is what is McCarthy doing about gang control.

If you want to lower the violent crime rate, cut off all public aid to convicted felons and anyone who is proven  to support criminal gang activity.  No money, no medical, nothing.  The Democrats would never stand for it, the hoods and their families make up a significant voting bloc.

People say that gang members view a prison term as a badge of honor, an opportunity to network, a training ground, etc.  So what.  I have never heard of a violent person who was locked up inside a prison committing a robbery, home invasion, murder, etc.

The system is severely broken and the way to begin to fix what is broken is in the voting booth.
