I'm picking up a safe in Vegas in the near future, possibly as soon as Thursday if I can get it together.

It's not a large footprint, but it's heavy as sin. 28x42" footprint, 42" tall, est at 5000. It is one of those ridiculous things out of a kmart from years ago, the walls are about 8" thick and layered steel.

I've got the truck and trailer to move it. I need to be able to pick it up off the garage floor at the house it is at, move it (downhill) the driveway about 50' and onto a flatbed trailer.

Anyone have the contacts/equipment to make this happen? No stairs or any such to contend with. Willing to pay to make it happen.

Thanks!

Golf balls and get a crane. Crane is pretty cheap, 140 bucks is worth it.

My uncle works in large scale furniture moving (like entire casinos) in Vegas.  I'll give him a text tomorrow and see if he recommends anyone for moving a safe that heavy.

I have a heavy duty appliance dolly you can use.

When you come to Vegas, please remember to bring my targets with you.

As always, the door to Casa de Ishoot2live is open.

What can you guys tell me about the Las Vegas Gun Show ( http://lasvegasgunshow.com/xinfo.htm ). I always try to combine travel and shows that I can do as a vendor. Roughly how many tables at the shows, overall rep?

5000#?  Don't even consider doing it yourself.  That thing will kill someone if you lose control of it down the driveway.  Think runaway truck!

Yeah, I'd definitely hire someone.

Exactly.  My 4runner weighs 3800lbs.  I think some of the heaviest duty furniture dollies only go up to 1500lbs.  5000 lbs is probably going to require hydraulics, a heavy duty pallet jack, and several people who know what they're doing.

5000# is actually light, I've moved over 15,000# by hand on a level floor.
Easily moved on rented machine skates.
Rent a toe-jack at the same time to lift it.
You will need to find a large tool rental co. but that should not be hard in a major city.
Use what used to be called "Common sense", tie-off and control movement.
Will still cost around $200.00 plus deposit for the rentals.
Not beyond the capacity of a medium forklift which you will need to set it on the trailer anyway, around $400.00 to rent.

If the movers will do it for around $400.00 of less hire them.

That's pretty much what I'm figuring. Once it's on the trailer, it's all good. I've got an overhead crane to unload and store it with until I've got a proper location for it at my place.

I had a friend try and lift a new empty water heater with a friend...2 guys. He pulled his bicep off his arm bone. I don't lift or try and lift anything anymore. I'm 47 and it's only gonna get worse. Hire a pro.

Seriously?  What was it, a 300 gallon commercial heater that was full?  75s take a bit of effort but 50s are child's play.

Just a normal residential heater. It was just one of those things.

Yep.  And I apologize to your friend if I sounded unsympathetic.  I know how "those things" can happen having torn my rotator cuff changing a flat tire on my camper.
