Are all elk and deer hunts by application only?

I will be moving to your state in a month and will be interested in hunting.

yes application and lottery and if you do get a successful draw be prepared for some serious leg work and if you are a southie most likely quite a long drive.

I didn't get to research it enough before the deadline, if there are any tags available for the 2nd draw I'll apply.  If not, I'll hunt Idaho this fall and then focus on Nevada next year.

I'm assuming you can coyote hunt with just a general hunting license if all else fails....

Coyotes are free so long as you aren't trapping or selling fur.
If either of those, a fur bearer lisence is needed and traps can only be run during trapping season.
