Particularly interested in NN owners.

Not finding a lot of solid info on-line.

Have an idea, would like to be able to verify it's practicality.
Want to confirm the bolt face dimensions.

I just ordered one to experiment with.

If anyone has any particular questions about these let me know and I may be able to find out in about a week.

I found a piece of brass in the desert today.
it looks to be the same bolt face as .223 and 9mm.
Neck and shoulder look just like .223 Remington,  only on top of a shorter length case.

Which one did you get? I will probably end up with a RIA double stack 22/9mm combo.

Rifle, for a 9mm suppressed conversion.
Bolt action so no semi-auto bolt noise.

May have the barrel for sale soon.

Sounds like a great project.  What action are you using?   I've done a couple projects using Stevens and Savage actions as donors.  I would think something like this might be perfect on a CZ 527 mini-mauser.

Are you going to develop some sub-sonic rounds for it too?

Cheers

Armscor .22 TCM re-barreled in 9mm.
So factory 147 gr. will be subsonic.
Using the same baffles and tube I use on my AR9's and Thureon 9's.
I just want to eliminate the semi-auto bolt noise and have new actions to work with.

Wow, I cannot think of another time when the 'Net let me down so badly before!

The same press releases a thousand times over, but no real details or pics of individual parts.
So I have to be patient until mine arrives, probably next week.

Think I've got the basic 9mm conversion figured out, just need the parts in hand for confirmation.
Armscor does not answer their phones.
Apparently no real advantage to being in the same state as their headquarters either.

Guess I should get my "watermark" program going as I expect the pics I post will be copied by every 'Net "Expert" who has never actually had their hands on one.

My contact with them is always spotty at best. It was a long time before they had a complete list of part numbers and models so finding what I want was tough.

Interested to see your new toys!!

Got it today.
Very basic, looks like a lot of .22 bolt action rifles from the 60's.
But this one is a wicked little cut down .223!
I've already confirmed that the mag does hold five rounds of 9mm just fine.
Have to open the bolt face .016" and get the new barrel made.

Calling it the "Novem" and "Novem SC" for now.

I will put a scope on it and try to get some data before tearing it down for the conversion.
Took a few pics for before and after.

I am surprised you had to open the bolt face. The pistols seem to interchange fine.

Pistols come with a 9mm barrel and spring as they are easy to interchange.
So the slide is made to accept 9mm brass.
Since the rifle has a permanently fixed barrel the bolt face is tighter to be optimum for the 223/.22 TCM base.

Gotcha. Is the bolt face a standard size like 223 or unique?

Same as .223.
The round was developed from .223 brass, NOT 9mm as many sources claim.

I'm anxious to get the old barrel off and the 9mm barrel fitted.

Range report.

Trigger is a little narrow for comfort but it has no creep and is pretty light from the factory.

Noise = LOUD, sharp high pitch, not as bad a .30 Carbine from a pistol but similar.
DO NOT shoot these without hearing protection.

Accuracy, .22 TCM is more accurate than I am from a sand bag rest.
My best group at fifty yards is under 2" but I'm so wobbly it disgust me.
At two-hundred yards shots seemed very consistent but I was only plinking.

38 rounds fired.
Feed was perfect and smooth.
4 with hard extraction. I'm not certain why, I suspect the loads may be inconsistent.
2 FTF but both were with another shooter so not certain the bolt was fully cycled.
3 Failure to eject fully, but other rounds went several feet.

9mm will be at least 3000 PSI less pressure and I am confident the loads will also be very consistent.
I may lap the bolt although it seems pretty smooth most of the time.

Next up is removing the TCM barrel and modifying the bolt face.
Then make a 16" 9mm barrel to try before fitting the suppressed version.
Armscor/Rock Island have NO plan to offer a factory 9mm version, so it's up to me.

Got a couple built, pic in the HT Pics thread.
Noticeably lighter and handier in 9mm.
Accuracy is good, noise not so bad as the original 22 TCM.
Basically no recoil.
Details are now up on my site.

Let me know if you need a review done for RECOIL or Ammoland

Interesting little cartridge. Seems like it is intended to be a rival to the FN Five seveN.

I have a friend out in lovelock who is curious about these as well. But he hasn't found a wealth of information on these online either.

I don't have a burning desire to get one, but I think I would pick up one of these before I got a Five seveN

I would too. Gun is half the cost and can be switched to 9mm. No brainer.
