Anyone looking for a great hunting, fishing and shooting club may want to check out The Watertown Conservation Club. We are on the Rock River just outside of Watertown. During the trap season we shoot Tuesday and Thursday nights 7:00 to 9:00 Pm. We are looking for trap teams for next year and almost always have open spots on a team or as a substitute. If you just want to come out and shoot some practice rounds you're welcome to as well. The Pistol/Rifle range is well maintained and we are adding some improvements as I type. The Wisconsin Trigger Company is the sponsor of the range so I am a bit proud of the club. Our application process is very simple and dues are very reasonable. You can check it out at Watertown Conservation Club website. If you're interested please email: [email protected]. Some of the top instructors in the US have been out to put on training classes. John Farnam from DTI and the late Pat Rogers to name a few. Larry Vickers came out and did some filming for his show and a few BCM commercials. In 2017 we have a bunch of classes planned with some big name instructors and some very good Wisconsin based instructors.

Our long range is 100 yards. Members may shoot alone. You just need to sign in and put up the range in use flag.

I've been wanting to find a relatively local range that will allow me to shoot sitting and prone at 25 yards for appleseed practice.

I may or may not spend time there
I've been a member since 2000 I think. Most of the time there is nobody there. There's shooting benches with wheels so you can move them around. 100 yards is the max, the third pic They just poured a concrete pad at 50 yards, maybe they'll put a roof up, crossing my fingers. Over all it's informal but I like it that way. No range nazis "THE RANGE IS COLD, HEY YOU PULL THE BOLT OUT OF THAT GUN" The only time I run into a lot of people is...right before gun season. I think I pay $140/year for non-participating membership, I have to double check with the wife. There's a pad locked gate you get a key for and a membership card. If I recall you need to be a member of the NRA also. I live close so if anyone is interested in a quick tour IM and we'll try to work something out. Oh ya, there's a trap range

Without people like you some of us would be doomed to standing still and function testing or rifles. Thanks for sharing your experience and skill. The club is always open to good instructors. |

Yep a roof is on the way as soon as Menards gets their act together we will have a 10Ft. X 36Ft. Shelter roof. The corrugated steel for the roof has been sitting on my car trailer for about 3 weeks now, and the frame work still has not come in. Anyone with some pull at the Menards in JC we could use some help. |

It's up! We had great weather for the day and a bunch of help. No major problems with the project. 
Even Bandit the wonder dog showed up to help.

The Dues for 2017 have been posted.
Regular---- $70.00 Husband & Wife--- $115.00 Senior ( 65 and Over)---$40.00 Senior Husband & Wife---$45.00 Nonparticipating----$140.00 Life member----$800.00 Members have Clubhouse use privileges , The club grounds including the Wisconsin Trigger Company Pistol / Rifle range as well as voting privileges at the monthly meeting. Nonparticipating members may use the Pistol / Rifle range but may not request the grounds or club house but may not vote at meetings. |

I have several questions:
1. What's the difference between a regular membership and a nonparticipating member? I'm guessing that a regular membership requires a certain amount of work hours each year? 2. On Google maps, I see where the pistol range is located (north of the trap range). Where is the 100yd rifle range located? 3. Do you allow full auto? It would just be submachine gun, probably at the pistol range. Thanks, |

The regular membership requires 20 hours of participation in club events. Nonparticipating does not require any hours but you do not have any of the privileges of membership such as reserving the club grounds for private use and voting rights at meetings. You may simply use the rifle/pistol range during daylight hours. 2. Yep the pistol/rifle range is north of the trap range and the last walkway is 50 yds. if you look to the north side of the range it will go back about 60 yds. past the last walk way and that is the 100 yds. part of the range, it's about 30 yds. wide at that point. You can go back to about 175 yds. but it's a bit wet most of the year and if you want to go back even further you will need to wait for the river to freeze. Our benches are made to roll around so you can set them any place you want up to the 100 yd. range.
3. We do allow full auto, we only ask that you call the Jefferson Co. Sheriff department along with the Watertown PD and let them know when you will be shooting. It goes without saying that FA shooters will be held to the highest standards of gun safety when they use the range. We spent the better part of last Saturday (5 hours) either shooting at the range, talking to a lot of other member enjoying the great weather and walking the trails picking up some branches and such. Ron, I want to thank you for alerting us to this hidden gem of a club! |

See you Wednesday, It's the last regular meeting of the year. We did have some great weather for dear sight in, the range should be jumping for the next few days. We do have a nice little club thanks to a bunch of great members.
