reviews?

Myself, I'm Trying to decide between 199Trust for $80 or GuntrustGuru's for $130..

199Trust has tons of reviews..seems its helped a lot of people
- from their website sounds like they are set up to not force you to include your inventory on each and every  new stamp app...
- seems like its set up to pass collection on to your heirs with no problems...
- however they are out of state so not sure how that flies per WI law..

GunTrust Guru's seem to cater to WI..   https://www.guntrustguru.com/wisconsin
- schedule A does not include your entire inventory when applying for a new stamp
- per their website, tons of info and detail and it seems designed to properly pass your collection on in case of ones death
- seems specific to WI, right?

Anyways...   with the deadline coming I'm runnning short on time..

GunGurus is the favorite now  but I keep hearing and hearing about 199TRust and its only $80.. but the lack of info on their website compared to Guntrustguru's has me in doubt...

let me know!

p.s. primary goal is NFA items and but just as important is avoiding probate court in case of my demise..   also talked to several local attorneys that specialize in gun trusts for nfa and they didn't inspire much confidence and wanted $350+

I went with SilencerCo Easy Trust. I figured a company that stands to make much more money off of me if they did it right would probably do it right.

How's it hold up regarding the estate side of things? I.e. probate court and passing collection on?

NFA side is good I know..but probate..?

The online trust are very basic...  Spend the extra $100 and have a real lawyer set it up.

I've contacted 4 local NFA gun trust specialist lawyers in my area.. no in my state,  not a one came under $400.....

unfortunately they also did not inspire much confidence in my talks with them..

It seems like Online is the way to go....

was jus curious if any Wisconsinites had any experience with online trusts and the estate/collection no probate court portion of the equation...

All of the online trusts I have seen are crap...  They do not include various provisions that an attorney drafted trust would.  Most of them, even the Silencerco one, say to consult an attorney after completing it!

No attorney is going to touch it without charging a fee because they are on the hook for it if they look at it and there is a problem later.  So,
for the same fee, they could have just drawn one up from the beginning.

I am all for saving money, but the online trusts completely different and are not really comparable.

May I ask why you say this?

if I just wanted NFA items I wouldn't care and just go for the online trusts as I know they get the job done..

HOWEVER I'm also looking for proper transfer of my collection on to my loved ones and avoiding probate court and all the problems that entails.

However $80 v/s $600 is quite a bit of coin, thats $500+ difference peace of mind be darned...

however its just $$ at the end of the day, so please advise..

Mr Grieve put my trust together. Zero issues. Not sure if its official but he gave me a nice .mil discount.  I do have to add my new son to it and adjust it for post 41f. I will get with him closer to July.

I created my own trust using a combo of what other guys I know have done for their toys. Before I submitted it, I actually won a free trust from a lawyer that "specializes" in gun trusts. He sent me an email basically asking for the name of my trust, trustees, and beneficiaries. Few days later my trust shows up in the mailbox. Basically a 2 minute copy and paste from the last 100 trusts he did. Glad I didn't spend $300 for the trust! Plus I'd say 99% of it was the same as the trust that I created. All I had to do was get it notorized and then submit a copy with my ATF paperwork.

Send me an email if anyone wants a copy of it. b_inchicago at hotmail.com

i did the DIY trust for my first 2 NFA items. i regret doing that. having a trust that was drafted, and updated as laws change, by a competent atty who is a firearm enthusiast, is worth the cash. but thats just my opinion.

I used these guys just this week.  The attorney, Dean is also a member here and called me back when I had a few questions.  He won't send it to you until he's personally answered all of your questions.

If you want I can send you a trust I bought but never used. Just fill in your names as needed.

That's the trick, isn't it?  Nothing these people do is peer reviewed or seen trial (that I know of)... so really impossible to say whether they're competently drafted or not.  Might need that malpractice insurance.  I do patent prosecution, I just went with a SilencerShop trust, read it, and am not really worried about it.  Also not doing any SBRs or anything of value beyond cans which are whatever if I die.

Funny story...I have been offering to share my trust for a couple years ago.  A while back, someone asks for a copy and they turn out to be one of the top gun trust lawyers in the country.  I get this whole email about how the trust that I did myself isn't valid, won't cover my beneficiaries, etc but he does offer to do one for free for me.  Really nice guy and helpful.

Here is the catch....the trust that I use (and sent him) was created by one of the other top gun trust lawyers in the country!  So much for peer review!

Both of these guys were recommended by Silencer Shop and I've seen their names mentioned tons of times on this site.

what does being a defense attorney have to with it ?

aren't attorneys that are not defense attorneys prosecuting attorneys?

Is there any difference between a $100-$150 trust from a silencer company or Silencer Shop and a $25 one from LawDepot?  They are both basically the same "fill in the blank" forms, what's the difference?

For non Mil he charges $600, which in my opinion is insane

If anyone wants a trust, I will send you mine, fully vetted by Tom Grieve.

You will just have to put your names in the right places.  It's a good trust.

I have one from 199trust and think it's fine. I looked at a friend's from a local lawyer who is commonly referenced, and am glad I didn't spend several hundred dollars going that route.
