Everything works out I'm picking up the frame only to a T\C Encore Pro Hunter soon.

Going for a scout rifle look feel with a long eye relief scope mounted forward and backup sites.

My first thoughts are 357 Max or .460 S&W.  Any other thoughts on a lite single shot rifle?

For a light 16" barreled gun  I'd suggest .223, .243, or maybe .260.

Have you ever shot .460 out of a light gun?  You might scope yourself even with a "scout" configuration...

I've shot really stout loads in .460 S&W and .500 S&W in pistols.  More of a push than a kick.  In a rifle .460 should be more manageable.

Sounds like you already know what you want, then.

No judging here - if CDI Factor wasn't a valid reason to buy shit I wouldn't own a lot of things!

Sounds interesting.

Just saying a .460 shouldn't be ruled out due to the recoil.  Still open to suggestions.  Get the receiver in next week.

I need to find a pistol barrel to put on it first even if I barrow one to get it registered as a pistol first so I can do pistol or rifle if I want to in the future.

Just get a 308. Can use it for anything and ammo is cheap and available. I just set up my Encore pistol for the 308 and a Burris posi-lock 2-7 scope. Sold everything else as I can reload the 308 with 90 grain all the way up 220 grain bullets. Match the load for the critter.

Check the price tag on 460 and 500 ammo, unless you reload, it's outrageous IMO. Plus I'll out shoot you with the 308 past 150 yards easy.

You don't "need" a pistol barrel to register it as a pistol. Just make sure you state that it's a pistol and do a WI handgun check. WHEN YOU FIRST PICK IT UP FROM THE DEALER.. That way you have proof the serial number on the receiver was background checked as a handgun.

How are you "out shooting" someone if you both killed the animal    Out to 200, you have no hunting advantage.

Premium .308 is over $1 per round.  Hunting .500 is about $3 per round.  You can pay that or more for premium .300 Magnum or just about any Weatherby rifle rounds. You are not going to be using a T/C as a bullet hose, so I do not see the big deal..

7mm08 .243

I've looked really hard and long at the 7mm 08.  Currently I'm thinking .357 Maximum if I can find some brass.
