I know many of you stay out of General Discussion, and those of you that do visit may not notice a thread tacked there about one your HTF brothers.  I would encourage you to read the story of your neighbor Brandon if you have not.  I didn't see a thread here, so wanted to make sure you locals were aware.  I would encourage you to rally to help Brandon and his family in any way that you can.  I suspect coming home to a mowed lawn or a warm meal may be something his family could really use right now.

For those of us thousands of miles away - the only thing we can do is support Brandon financially through a staff approved fundraising campaign.  As of this morning - the entire might of ARFCOM had barely crossed the $15K mark .  Folks - we can do better than this.  To get this party started, I have issued the following challenge:

I hereby challenge you ARFCOM brothers and sisters.  Get Brandon's fund to $20,000 by the end of the holiday weekend, and I will personally donate $5,000 to get us to our goal.  We can do this!!  Can you help?

Since I challenged here, I'll post the check that's going to Brandon's family.  I'm proud to have been a part of this team's support of our brother and his family.

My challenge has been met.  Who's next?

Almost at $25K!!!  This is incredible.  ARFCOM came through with close to $10K in roughly 8 hours.

We should be able to get to $25K tonight .

Alright Gents, I'm sending out a box to them tomorrow.  If you have anything you want to throw in, shoot me a PM.  I work in Downtown Denver, live in Centennial, and will be in Castle Rock this evening.

What are you putting in the box?   I'm happy to contribute some items but I have no idea what their needs are.

I'm trying to include some handwritten notes and just anything that might be helpful.  They're at home, and probably have a lot of time to sit and think.  I'd love some ideas about how to cheer them up if anybody has them!  Heck, I had even thought about some gear from the ar15.com store (T-shirts and a glass or something).

Thanks for sharing the news segment, guys, and thanks to everyone for spreading the word.

As a quick update on funding - Christina has upped the target to $100K under everyone's advice here.  For those of you not tracking, here's my best estimate on the fundraising effort as of this morning:

  • Give Forward: $41K

  • Checks sent directly: $6K (that I've coordinated - I'm sure there's more)

  • Geissele triggers: $12.5K (when all sold)

  • The ARFCOM Raffle: ~$10K (my best guess - when everything is totaled)

Total: $70,000 for Brandon and Christina

While it hardly feels like a time to celebrate - I'm proud to be a part of the team here.  Great job everyone.  Please continue to share with your friends and family.  Wouldn't it be great to see $100,000 raised for Brandon's family?
