I have a "project" upper that I am thinking of shorting into a pistol upper. It's a stag barrel, 16 inches, 556 like I said a project gun.

Do you folks have any recommendations for a gun smith who can cut and re thread it to 10.5? I am trying to see if it is cheaper than just buying a new barrel

Thanks in advance

West Coast Armory in Bellevue has a smith that threads barrels, I had my 10/22 barrel threaded by him about a year ago, did a nice job. I am also planning on having my Remington PSS threaded there as well. Cost on the 10/22 was around $125 I think.

You may want to look into just buying a new barrel since its for an AR, what length gas system do you have on the barrel now? I'm thinking you'll want a pistol gas system on the gun instead of the carbine one its got.

Not sure how far North or South you are on the wet side.

If you are in SW Washington....

I can't vouch for their work but I contacted benchmark barrels in silvana about threading my tikka. They said they could.

Justin (owner) of All American Armory over in Bow (Burlington area) does an amazing job. I'm having him cut down and re-thread the barrel on my SLR-107UR Krinkov project, now that I'm finally legal. He also does his own custom Cerakote work and stuff like that.
