The wet side is wearing me down, thinking of moving to the dry side, any cities to recommend. I can work remote so not worried about employment.

I know my provided specifics are limited but looking for some general East side advice.

THANKS for any comments!

What do you do for work?

My family is mostly from the east side around the Palouse area. I spent a lot of time there growing up and would move in a heartbeat,  but I'm tied to the marine industry.  Med term goal is to get out of that and find employment far from the coast. My wife and I (she grew up wet side as well)  have grown to hate it over here. It used to be bearable when I was younger,  and even then I was filled with a sense of dread whenever I returned home west over the mountains and back into the dreary overcast sky and mildewy surfaces. The influx of people and California attitudes over the past 15 years has just pushed me over the edge.

Tri Cities here.
Great area, warm and dry!
No rain here!
Conservative gun owners here.

Another vote for Spokane or one of the surrounding cities.  You might want to take a look at Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene as well, because Idaho is a little more 2A friendly.

Thanks to all for the comments, as mentioned, work does not dictate were I live so I am free to move.

I was thinking of the Tri-Cities, maybe Richland.

I have heard Wenatchee is also a nice place.

How about places to shoot in the Tri-Cities, on the wet side I just head to the abandoned gravel pit. Are there any places to shoot around Richland that do not involve a public range?

East Wenatchee (Badger Mountain), great area, amazing views, and a nice gun range right behind your place.

If I could work 100% remote I would have moved to Eastern WA LONG ago...

Lots of good ranges around the Tri Cities.
A couple gravel pit type areas.
Sometimes I head to the mountains for the day to shoot, fire, beer.

Cross the pass and it's Trump Bryant signs all the way to Idaho.

Another vote for Spokane.

I'm here attending school and I've decided that I'm going to stay here.

I like it much better than my hometown on the west side.

Spokane is pretty good, plenty of decent gun shops, one off intersection of mission and Freya, one on pines(AR related items). Cabelas at state line, Sportsmens on Division, Buck knives at stateline 20% off if you go to the factory store.. Good restaurants in town. They are tearing down the IMAX theater, couple decent casinos, Airway Heights and Worley...Traffic isn't completely unbearable like I5...MT Spokane for skiing and snow boarding, Idaho has some more..

Tri Cities much better than Spokane, for so many reasons!
But that's ok, go to Spokane!

Moved to the east side then back to the west, often wish I would have stayed on the east side, so much better in many ways. Ultimately proximity to family brought me back to the wet west side.

If I was heading that direction and didn't need to be in proximity to a fixed work location, I would just keep on going until I got to Idaho. Or Montana. Not much sense living in Spokane when you can live just across the border in Idaho and be close enough to occasionally enjoy what urban amenities Spokane has to offer while actually living with the greater freedoms that Idaho has to offer.

Are you looking to be near any sort of urban area? Need to come back to the wet side to visit on a regular basis?

Wow, not that I've been to it in a while, seen some cool movies, and concert movies there. Sad in a way.

It's over 40 years old, I imagine it's best days are way behind it. Looks there is a newer IMAX screen at an AMC theater just a few blocks away. Likely offers a much better movie experience.

Staying in WA would be for tax advantages, otherwise I would be over the border. No real reason to be West/Wet on a frequent basis.

The wet/clouds starting to get to me, shit ton of allergies too, hoping they would be better on the dry side.

Yes, urban center a reasonable distance would be required so Spokane/Tri-Cities both possibilities.

I know, it was built for Expo 74, it was just a cool place, it's own little atmosphere, unique shape, and part of Spokane, like the Pavillion, Clock tower, red wagon, hell of that downtown area and the old Expo park are cool, seems like a little more disappears every year. I don't doubt there are newer and better places, but they don't have the memories or atmospheres of the old originals, like the Ruby Theater in Chelan, there are far better theaters, but none with its charm.

That's what I said, then I ran out of patience. Moved at the beginning of the year.
I work from home one or twice a week, the rest of the time I commute to Bellevue from the CleElum/Easton area.
Not missing it at all...but then I was born in Yakima & graduated from Selah High.

how long does that take? 2 hours each way? How about during winter?

I grew up around Spokane and just moved back after 25 years in Seattle.  It's great to be back and I wish I had done it earlier.

Seattle isn't the same place it was 25 years ago, and I am not in my 20s anymore.

I still read this thread and appreciate the comments.

I never go near Seattle unless I have to.
