I picked up the Konrad® ‘Stock-Set’ from the EE last week; and I looked at some wood furniture at the last SHOT show at the SunDevil® Booth, and it’s always intrigued me since, to do a range rifle in one the hardwoods.

Made of only the finest quality hand picked laminate and walnut blanks. They are machined and inletted by one of the foremost stock makers in the industry, using only state of the art equipment. All of our walnut stocks are hand rubbed oil finish, the laminates are durable polyurethane satin finished. Our stocks are all Made in the U.S.A.

made it out to the range during the ‘Holiday Break’ … I took my Olympic Arms® ML-2 carbine with SUM ‘Broach-Cut’ Bull Barrel and my range goodies (Rug, Pad, and 3-Point Rest) and of course the mandatory ‘Chamber Flag’

I shot for nearly an hour total, as we had two ‘Cease Fire’ calls during my time at the range; and I shot fifty-five rounds of 55gr. Georgia Arms® Canned Heat™ and some HSM® Full Metal Jacket, and I shot 5 & 10 round groups on the 50-yard lane, with the GenII DMS-I set on 4X-power.

Upper Type: Forged Flat Top w/ Picatinny Rails
Front Handguard: Free Floating Aluminum Tube w/ Knurling
Barrel: 16in. Bull w/ Ultra-Match (Broach-Cut) 416 Stainless Steel
Chambering: .223 Remington, Minimum SAAMI Spec
Bore: Long-Life non-Chromed Bore
Twist Rate: 1x10 [optional 1x8]
Muzzle: Crowned

Lower: Mega® Gator™
Grip: Standard USGI A2
Trigger Guard: RRA® Winter™
LPK: DMPS®
ButtStock: Magpul® CTR
Optics: Millett® DMS-I GenII
Rings/Mount: American Defense-Recon 30mm
Forward BUIS: YHM®
Rear BUIS: Matech®
Magazine: Magpul® 20/Round

(5) and (10) round groups … on 2in. and 3in. Orange Dots

this was my best grouping on this ‘set’

[#9]
Today’s range outing consisted of (50) rounds of paper punching; and the ammo used was Georgia Arms® 55gr.‘Canned Heat’ and I shot the majority of rounds on the iron-sights, and about 20 rounds with the aid of the Sight-Mark® holographic sight.

Upper Type: A3 Forged Flat Top w/ Picatinny Rails
Front Handguard: Magpul® MOE™
Vertical Grip: Magpul® MVG™
Barrel: 16in. M4 Mil-Spec Certified 4150 Chrome-Moly Vanadium Steel Barrel
Chambering: 5.56x45 NATO Chamber
Bore: Hard Chrome Lined Chamber and Bore
Twist Rate: 1:7
Muzzle: 11 Degree Recessed Target Crown w/ A2 Birdcage

Lower: PlumbCrazy® Polymer Design
Grip: Standard USGI A2
Trigger Guard: Integral Polymer Design
LPK: Polymer FCG
ButtStock: 6-Pos M4 Style
Optics: SightMark® Sure Shot™ w/ Multi 4 Pattern Reticle.
Rings/Mount: Integral Design
Forward BUIS: Standard FSB ‘F’ Marked
Rear BUIS: Leaper® UTG™ Model: 4/15
Magazine: C/Products® 20-Round

today ‘groups’ were not that impressive; and it could have a lot to do with me only using the ‘Iron-Sights’ today, as I’m use to punching holes with variable powered optics.

Modifications in the works: I’m currently looking for an A1 Bird Cage FH, and I have the ‘Flat’ style delta ring, but have not taken the time to install it yet.

well I got out to the range yesterday as the weather here in western WA was quite nice (chilly, but a blue day) and I dialed in the 1:7 Colt® CL Barrel; and it did fairly well with the 55gr. FMJ Georgia Arms® Canned Heat™ and I did my best with the A1 sights and having to continually load (1) round on the magazine and repeatedly having to acquire sight and target acquisition.

this was one of my better target groups; and this was with some ‘reloads’ that a buddy gave me a couple of years ago.

note: the flyer to the bottom left, was from another sighting in group.

I'm finally starting to work on background, lighting and editing before just puking out the pics. You can see that in the earlier pics of the same rig.

So I started off by trading a DSA STG58 FAL for this:

Then I stripped the paint off the metal and added an EOTech, which promptly died the 1st time I took it out.

So I got a new stockset and a new Accupoint scope and thought I was happy.

From my more recent pics above, you can see that I wasn't finished

You just won this thread. That's a real riflemans rifle.

Hey thanks.  My Grandfather had one and taught my father how to shoot with it and my father taught me how to shoot with it when I was 6 or 7.  My father has it now that my Grandfather has passed and I will teach my son how to shoot with that same rifle.  Needless to say I have a soft spot for 62a's and when I saw this on the used gun rack at Cabela's needing some TLC I just HAD to take it home.  Time to do a dinner pic with some BBQ squirrel!

similar story with my dad, grandad. However the 62's were step 2. We started off with the single shot Wins and Rem's. after we proved proficiency, moved up to the mag fed pumps.. Love those rifles!! Can't wait for my boys to get old enough to enter the family training program. would love for their great grandad to get some instructor time.
