Border Agent Assaulted, TPD Not Backing the Badge

So a Federal Agent gets assaulted, the suspect escapes, and TPD tells BP to move their Command Post?  Their loser chief is a BLM supporter from CA.  Wow!

Some discussion on the department FB page. TPD FB

Enough time to reconsider our annual dove hunt to AZ.

Don't let Tucson ruin your dove hunt.

Don't let this fiasco push off your hunt.  It would only hurt the businesses and not TPD in any way. I'm honestly curious on how an alien was able to get past a PA on hospital watch.  Dollars to doughnuts the PA was either taking a leak or bullshiting with the nurses at their station and not paying attention.  I'd like to hope that's not the case, but wouldn't be surprised if it was.

I'm proud of my USBP friends and admire them, but we've all got shitbirds that work and they typically get these assignments.

I graduated from the UofA and I love Tucson.  But Tucson is the Austin of Arizona.

I think the phrasing was blown out of proportion.  TPD used as many resources (to include K9 and the Air unit with FLIR and thermals) as possible to try and locate the escapee for two hours, which is more than enough time to find a dude in the area he was supposedly seen and contained in.  After two hours they called it off because if he was not found in that timeframe, he was probably already out of the area before it was contained.

As far as kicking them off of TPD property, I don't think thats the case.  I wasn't there, but I can almost guarantee the "political climate" statement was referring more to not having the Officers available to dissuade protestors if they were to show up.  There are not many cops on at night right now, and those that are on have an obligation to the citizens of Tucson to take calls for service.  Due to the lack of Officers, they just said maybe you should have your incident command at your station, which in all reality is not much further from the hospital he escaped from than the Police station was.  I can tell you first-hand, if a dude wasn't located within a given area in two hours, he's gone and setting up across town (which is where the station they requested to set up was) is not going to make a single difference.  This was a matter of lack of resources.

Don't lump us into politics, we're just trying to do our job.  Trust me, I have backed up USBP several times in the past and have never once heard direction not to.  This whole thing was blown out of proportion by their Union.

What do they stand to gain by blowing it out of proportion?  No offense but I tend to believe BP over the shot caller at TPD that being the Chief who is clearly a liberal sympathizer.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Richmond Police Chief Chris Magnus, who gained nationwide attention for holding a sign reading “Black lives matter” at a peaceful protest in his city, was criticized by his department’s rank-and-file Friday for doing so in uniform.

While I respct the difficult work that TPD officers perform; I recognize the liberal socialist city council hires worthless ass kissing beaurocrat police chiefs who understand that they have to cater to the illegal alien population in order to keep their cushy, high paying do-nothing jobs.
I refuse to live within the Tucson city limits because it is such a dysfunctional liberal wacko haven...

Pretty much my same thoughts on the matter.  The county is the place to be, especially with Nanos gone.

No disrespect to USBP, but I think the union's statement was trying to shift the blame to TPD on why they lost their guy.  Again, I was not there, but from what I've been told we didn't have the manpower to deal with protestors should they show up.  Especially not when there are 40 calls for service waiting to get dispatched.  Setting up at the PD station that is 5 miles away from where the prisoner escaped is no different logistically from setting up 9 miles away.  It just isn't, not after he has been searched for to the fullest extent of our available resources and not been spotted for over two hours.  This was a matter of resources and from what I gather a miscommunication of intent.

And I have no doubt the chief is a politician, I'm in no way refuting that.  I just don't think that really weighed in on this decision.

If the prisoner is right handed you cuff his right hand, left/left hand to the bed. Then you put leg irons on the prisoner, if your Dept has them, most large Depts have sets of leg irons. Ask a nurse to watch the prisoner to for 3 minutes so you can piss.

Most nurses and doctors cry when you've got them cuffed to the bed, it's ridiculous. He's just a poor migrant coming here for work, who cares what his rap sheet is and if he assaulted an Agent.
No way in hell a nurse is watching a prisoner if you go to take a leak. Way outta policy.

I was a Chicago police Officer for 30 years, I had nurses watch prisoners on gurneys that where cuffed and in custody, so i could take a piss. You find the right nurse, the one married to a copper or fireman or a paramedic in the E.R.. I could be wrong, but i think CHGO E.R's may be a little busier then Tucson E.R's. After you are in the E.R's 3 times a week for months/years you get to know the E.R. personal. If the prisoner is admitted to a room it is even easier to have a nurse watch to piss. And no, they don't care what the rap sheet is, the first question most ask if the have a head wound is "did the police give you the head wound"?

I can only imagine the morale at TPD is not exactly at a high point.
