I know Mark Graham at ARS is in Surprise, but he's backlogged for months.

Like a goober, I leaned my PTR against my couch, from where it promptly slid (damn slick butt pad!), letting the front sight hood impact the tile floor. The hood did its job and the front sight insert is intact, but said hood is deformed and it bothers the shit out of me looking through a perfectly round rear sight aperture to see that egg-shaped outline. Rifle function is not affected. Anyone in/around Central Arizona/The Valley work on G3-type rifles? PTR quoted me $175, which is not a hellacious price for my dumbassery, but I'd like to get it done (semi-) locally if at all possible.

Cheers!

RDTS are good to go. Any roller lock or beltfed HK design, Ralph can make it right.

Another good smith out in the Queen Creek Area but you are not allowed to mention his name on ARFCOM.

I was also going to mention the unmentionable 'smith. He's always done good work for me.

Thanks guys. I sent an e-mail to RDTS. They're on my way to work, so that would be most convenient.

Cheers!

Any follow up on your project?

Also, I was going to mention that you might contact ARS as you mentioned in your original post because he built a FAL for me last year and the work was completed more quickly than I had anticipated. His backlog might not be as bad as you think.

Haven't heard anything back from my e-mail to RDTS. I'll give 'em a call, though. Cool with ARS. I'll send Mark an e-mail. He's quick about responding. Thanks for the heads-up.

The bolt and barrel are unaffected. The front sight hood is buggered and will need to be replaced, which involves welding and refinishing, which is beyond my means.

Called RDTS and got right through. Should be able to meet up and drop off the rifle. They were at the SAR show, hence the delay in email response.
