Hi, I'm getting close to retirement, and like a lot of Pro-Gun,
Constitutional Conservatives, need to get out of Kali, ASAP.

I'd would like to know what it's like in Fountain Hills-specifically:

Crime, Illegals, Drugs, Accepting of New People, etc.

Just want to live the rest of my life in peace and enjoy my guns...

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm a bit far north of that area but I am sure that a few folks will be along to help you out, we have a pretty active hometown.

Fountain Hills is great. Just due east of some gorgeous parts of North Scottsdale. Nice homes, nice desert scenery. And real close to the Beeline highway for when you want to make a quick trip up north.

+1.

It's a really nice area, especially if you're not looking for a lot of land. It's not too crowded, but you're not going to find much in the way of horse properties over that way.

I live in Fountain Hills, this is some bad shit in the last three years or so that I've lived here.

-Had a drive by shooting a couple months ago, dude got shot and lived last I heard. Dispute over drugs.
-Verizon store got robbed at gunpoint.
-Property crime is prevalent.
-Naked dude on drugs tried to wrestle a gun from a cop and cop finished his ass off.
-Apartment building going to be built in the middle of town, people are pissed cause this will bring in low rent riff raff etc.
-Cops found a dead girl behind grocery store in her underwear, drug related most likely.
-Drunk driver smashed some other dude head on in front of my house, car burst into flames.
-Another car burst into flames from some drunk lady ofter she ran her Lexus into some bushes.
-Some guy from San Tan Valley went on a shooting spree on 87 in Fountain Hills with an AR and some body armor, cops were in choppers looking to    dust this wacko but he surrendered after he carjacked some other people.
-Husband and wife did a murder suicide, postman found those two.
-My bike was stolen.lol
-Liberals are moving here it seems and they are vocal/rabid about it.
-The casino/reservation may something to do with all of this, IDK.
-Some sort of homeless vagabond dudes near the target, always passing through, always different dudes.

Now I'm sure this stuff happens all over but I'm just being up front and honest.
I'll touch on some good stuff now.
-Property values are high and rising, buy in the summertime if you can because everyone jacks the shit out of their prices in the winter months.
-There's a great amount of Republicans here and course Sheriff Joe.
-Very gun friendly, I've got 3 stamps and 3 more pending. It's beautiful, mountains/fountain/days of sunshine etc.
-Good amount of churches, clean cut people from an older better generation.
-Low property taxes, palm trees.
-Car shows, farmers market etc.
-No traffic, disconnected from the hub of people and frustration.
-Overall it's great

Being Conservative and what I would call a "Good Citizen", I hate Los Angeles:

My own house burglarized twice in the last 8 years. (Not much stolen, really)

Shootings about everyday (on the evening news)

Traffic sucks, gun laws suck and getting worse.

Income taxes would be cut in half by moving to Arizona.

Overall, Los Angels County is about 40% Illegal (At least seems that way)

I'm not anti-Latino or Mexican, Etc. Just anti-Illegal.....

Sounds like this is your neck of the woods then, most people in FH are from the midwest(including me).
I like northern Scottsdale,Carefree, Rio Verde and parts of Cave Creek as well. Since I've been here I've been looking for land but its hard when you like UT, AZ, WY and MT.
You can also get top dollar for seasonal furnished rentals in FH, a lot of FH people are also realtors and heavily into the rental business.
In the summer most people leave for Canada, Midwest etc.

I live in Fountain Hills, also.  After reading KLampers post it reminded me of all the weird stuff that happened here in the last year or so.  The good news is that we are bordered on the West by the McDowell Mountains and the Sonoran Preserve, the North by the McDowell Mountain Regional Park and the East by the Reservation.  This causes much of the crime to happen close to the main access Route - Shea Blvd and also in a couple of sections of the town with apartments and businesses.  The one strange thing about FH compared to Scottsdale is that there are two distinct classes of people in town - the wealthier/older folks and the "Townies."  There are a couple of sections where it is very rednecky but if you spend 400K and up you get out of that.  Property taxes are low .

I live in the back corner and have spectacular views and (knock on wood) no crime.  Well, the old lady down the street was pissed because someone didn't pick up their dog's poop!  The great thing is lots of kindred spirits too - at our dinner parties we bring out our newest peashooters and discuss them!  There are two major outdoor ranges in the metroplex (Ben Avery and Rio Salado) but we are not close to them.   I go to the Four Peaks area 20 miles north on the 87 and I have shot out to 800 yards and you can go even further, just not in the summer because of heat and snakes.   I have places up north where you can shoot out to a couple miles if you have a 4WD.

The only thing you will want to do is rent here for a summer because it can get miserable for those who don't do heat.  Worth it for the rest of the year in my opinion, especially since 7000-8000 elevations are an hour and a half north of here with all the open camping you can imagine.
