Is this legal? It must be, I see a lot of people doing it.
What kinds of fish are in there? |

AZGFD
That's not the CAP website, that's the AZGFD page for central AZ. CAP down here near Marana and Tucson is fenced and and no trespassing signs everywhere. |

SRP canals are gtg! There are some monsters in there too. My great grandfather was featured on the local news once. He would "Stroll for cats". He would handline some shrimp with a decent sized circle hook and just walked along the canal for miles. He would end up at another grocery store where he would use a phone to call my great grandmother to come pick him up with all the fish he caught. Bobbers work good and Carolina rig works ok just let it sit. There is so much crap in the Ive tried inline spinners and other open hook lures and caught a bunch of trash. We had good luck in the past loading up a hook with worms and no weight and a bobber set high enough on the line that it could drift a little bit and slack line after the bobber. The fish could run a little bit with it. |

I thought those canals had a really fast current. Surprised you can even use those methods. I would rhink bait wpuld just fly downstream.
Going to have to give this a try.

If they are from Dallas or north Texas they may be coming to remember what summer is supposed to feel like. The first half of our summer has been unusually mild. I think we may be planning an invasion or something. Me? I'm just coming to visit family, drink beer and help contribute to the lead pollution somewhere while I'm in country. The in-laws are all Nebraska immigrants living in Mesa now. AZ is great. The only other place I'd want to live other than my home state of Texas but the Dallas area leaves a lot to be desired in many categories. A lot of talk of TX going blue in the next 15-20 years. The FSA is growing in numbers here. ETA: Yay! Post 556! Jester |

I got to talk to someone who works for CAP last night, I asked if she knew where to fish and she just laughed. She told me even employees are forbidden from fishing in the CAP canals.
On another note I am trying to get her to take me on a flight with the sherrifs helo when she goes next time. |

Texans from the east side of Tucson to around Casa Grande where we had to hop off. Then passed a car on the 202 with a dealer badge from close to home in DFW. These people need to leave! I'm here in vacation to get away from home! I see its nice and humid right now to remind me of home. Jester |

Speaking of Texans.
I had two Texas clowns move in next door to me, and I don't mean "clowns" in the derogatory sense, I mean actual clowns, like circus clowns. I'm not shitting you either. Circus Clowns for real, from Texas. Weird huh? |

Do you know what part of TX they are from? We seem to be an equal opportunity state with regards to weirdos but it may give some indication to the type of weirdo they are. If they are from Austin be afraid, very afraid. The weird is uber strong there. Jester |

Houston certifiably blows. Hard to say being from there other than they could also be sadomasochists. Much like PHX, the metro areas in TX seem to be the most likely places to find the FSA but it's not an exclusive population. I haven't spent too much time in Houston, luckily, so I'm not intimately familiar with it. As I said before, monitor closely.
