Sat June 10th
There will be many more 4-H'ers from around our county this year since we have a better working relationship with them. And that's a great thing. Pray for dry weather this year. More details to follow. ETA: Finally, more info. Date: Saturday June, 10th Place: South of Jefferson Ohio, Central Ashtabula Co. (address will be sent to those who confirm they are attending). Why? Because it is my private range and I won't post on an open forum. Time: 10:00 am until...well we shall see, last year we went til dusk. Food: Bring your own item you want to grill (we have a small one we can take back to the range) along with buns or pickles and cheese, we will have the ketchup, mustard and mayo. If we get a bunch of people we will build a fire in our ring and cook over it as well. If a few people want to bring chips or a side dish like beans or something, that would be great. We just need to know in advance. Last year we supplied potato salad, I need to see if my wife is up to it again. Drinks: We will supply water and a couple coolers with ice. My wife makes some AWESOME lemonade, we will have a cooler mixed and ready. Anything else, you will want to bring. NO ALCOHOL on the line and no consuming before or during shooting. If you want to bring some type of adult beverage fine, just figure on drinking it after you are done shooting. Rules: This is a kid friendly event, my kids will be there. Smallborefreak and Batmanacw may have kids there and this year, some of our 4-H Shooting Sports kids may be here. If it is impossible to keep the language clean, it might be best not to come. Ask before bringing kids though, they need to be well behaved and listen to you and other adults. Any that can not take direction will have to leave, I don't want anyone getting hurt or worse. Smallborefreak's boy is a perfect example of everything right. He listened, stopped doing anything questionable the first time he was told. Great kid, I am glad he made it out. We have a play set and sand pile by the house if the kids need to burn off steam at any point. Your concealed carry / open carry can be loaded when you arrive, carried all day and shot if you wish. ALL OTHER GUNS MUST BE UNLOADED WHEN YOU ARRIVE. Know the four rules of safe firearm handling, there might be a test. All center fire rifle rounds must impact the back stop which will be set at 100 yds. That means no shooting at targets laying on the ground that folks with rimfire and handguns might be knocking around. As the day progresses, we might move back to further distances, we'll see if a majority are game and make the decision then. If I haven't seen you shoot before and/or you have a new center fire rifle we will have to sight it at 25 yrds. We will set several times as people come and go to do this, the first one being right off the bat. I don't want rounds missing the backstop...period. Before anyone goes down range all bolts. slides or actions must be open and some kind of indicator inserted. Spent brass large enough to see (.22 won't cut it), chamber flag or a pen would be fine. They can also be racked like a few guys who brought their own rack did. If you have a target stand, bring it. I have a limited number and have room for about 10 people on the line at one time. I have some hanging steel but do not allow steel core to be shot at the steel. If you want to shoot the steel bring some lead core FMJ. If you bring something fun to shoot at, like a computer, I would ask that you plan on taking it and the mess home with you. This may involve a considerable amount of time cleaning up as well as a bin for you to haul it home. Paper targets can be placed on a burn pile behind the range. I would like to ask for a few folks to show up early and some to stay a little after to help set up some canopies and tables as well as tear down and clean up. You may want to bring your own folding chair or a portable shooting table if you have one. Swap meet??? I don' t know, what is the feeling on this? Shotar suggested it and it sounds like a great idea, I just don't want to manage it. I am sure things will be amended as people ask questions and offer suggestions. The bottom line is this, I want everyone to have a good time, no one getting hurt and my wife and I not getting stuck with all the clean up. Feel free to post questions and suggestions. Thanks, S-1 |

I'd like to attend this years' G-n-G, with your permission, of course.
Don't have the 82A1 yet but it's getting close, I can feel it! |

Another member here I recently met in person suggested your shoot to me and told me he's had an awesome time in past years.
I'm interested in attending. He's in here, helping my end of the world build. |

I'm coming ~440 miles folks, can't wait! I finished up my packing list and I'm thinking I might be over-doing it a bit. Of course, if my 5320.20s don't come back in time, that problem will take care of itself...
@safe1 - I'm happy to bring several cans of beans and some bags of chips. Once I get into town, I'll also see if DWFAN can get me someplace to maybe grab some cole slaw. |

For those bring class 3 stuff, our 4-Hers will be there as usual and you have always been more than generous with your stuff. Would it be too much of a burden if I extended an offer to my Little League team? I'm not sure how many, if any, would come but I would supply ammo.
